This time around, we’re hoping it sticks. Iger hand-picked Bob Chapek when he originally retired from the company, and now, speculation has started to swirl around just who might be his next choice. We’ve seen a handful of names pop up as potential contenders, but it looks like one candidate has shared he hopes he’ll get the job.

When Disney brought Bob Iger back as CEO last November, he brought with him a sense of hope that many had been missing. Iger’s predecessor (and successor) Bob Chapek was seen by some as the CEO who raised prices (not unique to Chapek, for the record), got rid of free FastPasses, and took the Magical Express away from us.

So when the much-loved Iger returned, fans were ready for changes — and changes we got. But, even Iger can’t stop a looming potential recession from happening and recently said that Disney is not recession-proof — meaning anything from your Friday night Disney+ movie lineup to your next trip to the parks could be different.

Theme parks are getting updated, Disney+ was launched back in 2019, and leadership has switched back and forth a few times. But one of the biggest changes coming for the company is that they’re moving 2000 jobs from California to Central Florida.

Disney is going above and beyond with celebrating its 100th Anniversary in 2023.

That strategic redirection includes a massive overhaul of the company’s structure, which many expected, but what that new structure would look like remained unclear — until recently. Disney held its first company earnings call since Iger’s return, and he declared out with the old and in with the new — effective immediately.
