Disney has some upcoming schedule tweaks planned for a few popular Magic Kingdom shows, and it’s the kind of update that’s easy to overlook if you’re not checking the app regularly. Before your next visit, here’s what you’ll want to keep in mind so you’re not caught off guard!
The theme for Magic Kingdom in 2026 is CHANGE. EVERYTHING is changing in Magic Kingdom. Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island are gone FOREVER while Disney builds a new Cars-themed expansion, Piston Peak, in Frontierland. A new Villains land is being built behind Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, which is also currently under construction for some new updates. Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin is even getting updated.
Happily Ever After
Well, that’s not all, because the ICON of Magic Kingdom is also changing, starting this month. Disney has plans to repaint Cinderella Castle, starting this month, and that’s going to impact some entertainment in the park as of January 28th.
This week certainly is extra magical in Disney World if you celebrate Christmas, because this week means LOTS of special entertainment!
Mickey’s Most Merriest Celebration
We’ve been able to try lots of seasonal treats for the past few weeks, as well as check out all the gorgeous decor, and if you’ve been able to experience Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party or Jollywood Nights, you also got to check out special holiday entertainment. However, if you’re in the parks this week, you can have the option to experience an EXCLUSIVE show during the day that you can normally only see at an after-hours event!
We would argue that Disney World’s live entertainment is some of the best in the world.
Cinderella Castle
There are several outdoor shows put on by characters and Cast Members in each of the parks. Street performers, parades, cavalcades, and other shows pop up throughout the day and bring us lots of joy. Occasionally, Disney will cancel or temporarily remove some of this entertainment for varying reasons. Recently, two shows were suspended for a couple of weeks, but we’re happy to report that they have officially returned back to Magic Kingdom!
