Your Magic Kingdom day might look a little different soon.

Magic Kingdom
Disney has some upcoming schedule tweaks planned for a few popular Magic Kingdom shows, and it’s the kind of update that’s easy to overlook if you’re not checking the app regularly. Before your next visit, here’s what you’ll want to keep in mind so you’re not caught off guard!
If you’re planning a trip to Magic Kingdom soon, there are a few important entertainment changes you’ll want on your radar. As work begins on Cinderella Castle’s exterior repainting restoring the classic color scheme and marking the end of the “rose gold” look from the 50th anniversary, Disney is adjusting the schedules for several of its most popular shows so that refurbishment crews can work in the mornings without disrupting performances.

One of the biggest changes affects Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire, the beloved castle stage show featuring Mickey, Minnie, and a host of Disney characters. Beginning January 28th, this performance will move to an afternoon-only schedule, with four daily shows at approximately 1:00 PM, 2:05 PM, 4:00 PM, and 5:15 PM. Morning performances are being removed entirely, and total daily performances will be reduced by one.

Another classic show that’s seeing a shift is Let the Magic Begin, the morning welcome ceremony that traditionally kicks off the park day with Mickey and friends on Main Street, U.S.A. As part of the castle work, this show will no longer appear on the daily schedule starting on January 28th, which gives visitors an opportunity to plan something else, like a PhotoPass stop, or a quick stop in for a coffee as the very start of their day at Magic Kingdom.

Finally, the nighttime spectacular Happily Ever After, the fan-favorite fireworks, projection, and music show at Cinderella Castle, will continue nightly, but Disney notes that there may be minor adjustments to the presentation during the repainting project due to how the castle’s scrim and scaffolding affect projection surfaces.

All of these updates are reflected in the official Magic Kingdom entertainment calendar and are expected to stay in place throughout the castle refurbishment period, so be sure to double-check showtimes in the My Disney Experience app as you plan your visit.
We’ll continue to keep you posted about any further changes we spot and the progress being made on Cinderella Castle’s updated look as it happens in real time. Be sure you’re following along with us at DFB so you don’t miss a thing!
