It’s Fall and Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort is upon us! The Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe at Disneyland has added some seasonal items to their repertoire that you don’t want to miss!
On a recent visit I tried several new items, and I’m happy to say there wasn’t a bad one in the bunch.
It’s really hard to choose a favorite because each one of these was pretty darn delicious. I think though, I’m going to choose the Spiced Bundt Cake as my favorite. It had a unique Fall flavor to it and although I LOVE pumpkin, it’s nice to get a little variety of flavors to celebrate the season.
This cake was so moist; the knife slid right through it as I cut it in half. It had a nice spice flavor to it, not too overdone; and it had delicious vanilla custard-like frosting that was generously drizzled over the top and made its way into the center of the cake as well.
My favorite thing about this cake was that amazing cinnamon whipped cream on the top. It was light, fluffy, and really a great addition to this year’s seasonal items. The Spiced Bundt Cake is $5.19 and generously sized.
Next up is the Pumpkin Cheesecake. I absolutely loved this dessert, but it was really more like pumpkin pie than cheesecake.
The “cheesecake” part was basically pumpkin pie filling. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining; it was really great. But, when I took a bite, I immediately thought “Pie.” There is a thin layer of graham cracker crust on the bottom, which is definitely a cheesecake trait, but overall… Pumpkin Pie.
Cheesecake and pumpkin pie fans alike will love this dessert. It’s also topped with that glorious cinnamon whipped cream that I mentioned above. Perfect for sharing, a serving of Pumpkin Cheesecake will set you back $5.39.
Normally I’m not a huge eclair fan. I’ve tried each different flavor from Jolly Holiday since it’s been open and have never gone back for seconds… The Caramel Eclair, though, is actually much better than the ones I’ve had in the past.
The Caramel Eclair reminded me of a cream puff. The flavor was mild and the texture of the pastry was just right. To me it tasted of vanilla with a hint of caramel.
Still not my favorite treat, and I probably would choose something else over this one, but in my opinion, a big improvement on flavor from the last few I’ve tried. Also, I feel like in the past I may have gotten an eclair that was not so fresh and a little to hard to chew. This one was softer and tasted very freshly made. If seasonal flavors aren’t your thing, Jolly Holiday also offers a Signature Chocolate Eclair year round. The price of an eclair is $3.99.
Every year I look forward to the return of the Pumpkin Muffin! This is one of my staple seasonal eats.
The Pumpkin Muffin never disappoints. It’s the perfect treat, sort of dessert-like, sort of breakfast-like… Versatile, right?
It’s back this year and better than ever. Moist, pumpkin goodness filled with golden raisins and just the right amount of Fall spices. Topped with streusel crumbles and a generous amount of cream cheese frosting that makes its way into the center of the muffin as well. I absolutely love this muffin. It can be yours for $3.49, which is cheaper than a cupcake, but you’ll still feel like you’re eating one!
Overall, I highly recommend a visit to Jolly Holiday. They have so many great options in their bakery case, both seasonal and year round.
Have you tried any of these Fall specialties yet? Did you have a favorite or which would you choose? Let us know in the comments below!

The Disney Holiday season is in full effect at the Disneyland Resort! I love that the Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe is always introducing us to new seasonal items.
In fact, because I never know what I’ll find, I’ve make it a point to check in on nearly every visit to Disneyland!
On my last trip there were a handful of new items that are special for the Disney holiday season. Also in the bakery cases were some returning favorites.
The popular Santa Mickey Candy Cane Cupcake is back.
The cupcake is chocolate, topped with a mound of red & green “sure to stain your teeth” frosting, and finished off with a candy cane.
I’ve actually never tried one of these because 1) I’m not a huge chocolate fan and 2) it looks way too messy for me to deal with in public!
There are also Snowman shaped [Read more…]

This Friday marks the official start of Halloween Time at The Disneyland Resort. I was so excited when I saw this guy on Main Street, USA!
Anyhow, as I strolled along, I decided to pop into the Jolly Holiday Bakery.
I recently tried several of the new items there and didn’t really expect to find anything in addition to them. But guess what — the Pumpkin Muffin is back early! Even though I was on my way to a big lunch, I had to try one.
The muffins are enormous. And for [Read more…]
Spending some time at Disneyland? Head on down Main Street USA and take a pit stop at Jolly Holiday. There are some delicious new treats that have been recently added the bakery case.
Mary Poppins and her penguins have obviously been busy in the kitchen. There are several new baked goods in the case, all which look practically perfect in every way. Most of these new treats are fruity flavors, which are my biggest weakness. I’d choose fruity over chocolate any day (GASP, I know!)… I ordered 5 different new treats and hope to go back soon for the ones I missed. But for now, here’s a little sampling of the new offerings.
Let’s start with the Mickey Macarons. These were rumored to be hitting Disneyland quite some time ago and appear to be very different than the macarons featured at Walt Disney World. (Note that in Disney World, the signage on these was Mickey “Macaroon”; yes, we’ve had the “macaroon vs. macaron” definition discussion on the food blog many times before and it just doesn’t seem to be consistent across the Disney parks ;-D.) I’m not sure why it took so long, but HERE THEY ARE! Priced at $4.99, the Mickey Macarons are very generously sized. As of now they come in two fruity flavors; Passion Fruit and Raspberry Rose.
The Passion Fruit Mickey Macaron was very sweet; passion fruit cream sandwiched between two super soft Mickey Macarons. I love the metallic purple swipe across the top. I know it’s just decorative, but I’m a sucker for shine and sparkle. Especially purple shine and sparkle AND especially when it’s edible!
The Raspberry Rose Mickey Macaron was

It’s been grilled cheese weather for us out there, and I’m pretty sure it has been for many of you as well! So it’s time to put together our list of the Best Grilled Cheese in Disney Restaurants…and I can’t wait to hear your additions!
You know we love cheese around here, and Disney has found lots of different ways to be creative with this particular recipe for success. Let’s take a look at our favorites in Disney World and Disneyland!
With the newly opened Jolly Holiday Bakery & Cafe in full effect there are tons of yummy options that are on my “must try” list. The first one was this scrumptious Lemon Meringue Bar, which I specifically went back for on my second trip to Jolly Holiday.

Jolly Holiday Bakery & Cafe
Let me start by saying that I consider myself a lemon bar connoisseur. I love them… like really, really love them. So, I was hoping that this tart treat would meet my expectations, because artificial-tasting lemon in a lemon bar is awful.
The topping is also important to me; usually I like a “crumby” type topping on them and maybe a sprinkle of powdered sugar.

Lemon Meringue Bar
I am happy to report, however, that the Lemon Meringue Bar is a great twist on the standard lemon bar. The meringue topping was smooth and not too sticky, it was the perfect sized dollop to go along with the bar.
The lemon was tart and tasted natural, while the crust on the bottom was [Read more…]
