The Disney Adventure Cruise Ship has canceled a sailing when passengers were on board the ship.

Disney Adventure
Yes, Disney’s newest cruise ship, which has been sailing for roughly 2 months, has had to cancel one of its itineraries at the last minute. Here’s what we know and what you can do if you find yourself in a situation like this.
According to the Straits Times, Disney had to ask guests to disembark from their cruise on May 8th. Disney shared that a mechanical issue caused the voyage to be cancelled. The guests were already on board when they were asked to leave, signalling that Disney tried to get the issue fixed until the last minute.

The ship, which is located in Singapore, was originally planning to set sail from the Marina Bay Cruise Center on May 7th, when passengers originally boarded. The guests waited overnight to see if the sailing would still happen. A Disney spokesperson confirmed the Disney team is still working on the mechanical issue.

The Marina Bay Cruise Center
The cruise was originally going to be a five-day, four-night cruise. While instances like this are rare, they can happen! What happens when your Disney Cruise gets canceled after you arrive? The Disney spokesperson confirmed that they are working directly with the guests to “provide support for their travel needs.” That means Disney will try to help you directly with the issues created by a cruise cancellation. They gave a letter to travelers sharing that they would get a complimentary hotel room at JW Marriott Singapore South Beach, and they would cover any flight change fees. They also confirmed they will give $500 USD per stateroom for other incidentals.

Disney will also try to keep the fun going as long as they can. Until Disney canceled the sailing, food and entertainment had gone on uninterrupted for guests to enjoy. While you’re on board, they will do their best to make it a classic “Disney” experience.

They are also providing guests with a full refund. This will include any unused portions of prepaid packages, which could be photography or on-board Wifi. Disney is also providing 50% off on future Disney cruises. Cancelations like this can be stressful and overwhelming, so always try your best to keep your cool while Disney handles the details on your behalf.

Disney Adventure
The Disney Adventure has had some issues, even before setting sail. The ship was originally supposed to launch in December 2025, but it was delayed until March 2026. The biggest attraction on the ship, Ironcycle, is a coaster at sea that didn’t run at all during the maiden voyage we were on. We did enjoy our time on the ship (and had lots of big feelings about it), but it wasn’t without its issues.

On board the Disney adventure
Every new Disney ship has growing pains, so if you’re headed onto a new ship not long after its debut, be prepared for some bumps in the road. We hope the ship can work out any issues it has very soon! As always, be sure to keep following DFB for more Disney news, updates, and more.
