Three parks in Disney World currently have new lands and expansions under construction.

In Hollywood Studios, we’re gearing up not only for The Walt Disney Studios, but for Monstropolis, the new Monsters, Inc.-themed land replacing the former Muppets Courtyard. Construction is underway, and we just got some big updates!

Twitter/X user @bioreconstruct shared some aerial photos and videos of construction on Monstropolis, and we can see the beginning supports for the future attraction coming to this land.

In the photo below, we can see the rough outline of the ride building coming together, as well as the coaster supports getting installed. This building will be home to the first-ever suspended roller coaster in a Disney park, inspired by the scene where Mike, Sulley, and Boo travel through the factory hanging on doors in Monsters, Inc.

Based on those notes and the concept art, it looks like the ride itself will be housed in the section of the building on the left. The open area on the right could easily be queue or pre-show spaces.

We also got an updated look at the other areas around the land. The landscaping and pathways in the front of Monstropolis are being completely reconstructed — everything is back to dirt! We’re definitely sad to see the iconic Miss Piggy Lady Liberty fountain go, but we’re excited to see what comes next.

At the former home of PizzeRizzo, the building is getting a facelift. Recently, crews were working on updating the exterior theming elements and the outdoor dining patio.

In up close photos, you can see that metalwork has been added to the facade to fit more in line with the arched shapes of Monstropolis architecture. Currently, the iconic green and red colors of PizzeRizzo remain, but it’s likely those will be painted over in the future.

Heading more toward the back of the land, work is being completed on the buildings that formerly held Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano and Hollywood Studios’ Christmas shop. Based on concept art, it looks as though this space is going to become Harryhausen’s, the restaurant that Mike takes Celia Mae to for her birthday in the film.

Then, back toward the front of the land, you can see where the pathways will connect to the new ride building, as well as some of the work being done on the theater. Concept art shows that the old home of Muppet*Vision 3D will become The Glob theater (a play on The Globe). We’ll be interested to see what they add there!
