We’ve got some great news for Disney Cruise Line sailors, especially those who find making it to San Diego easier than Orlando or other ports.
Currently, the Disney Wonder and the Disney Magic are set to sail from San Diego, and now, thanks to this extended partnership, we could see the amount of sailings from San Diego DOUBLE within the next five years.
Today, Disney Cruise Line and the Port of San Diego announced a new agreement through at least 2031! This means that the number of Disney cruises out of the port will double in the years to come. When talking about the partnership, Jose Fernandez, Vice President of Port Strategy, Development & Operations, Disney Cruise Line, said, “San Diego has been an important part of our West Coast operations for more than a decade, and a place our guests love sailing from. This new agreement supports our long-term growth and helps us continue contributing to the region’s economy.”
Chair Ann Moore, Port of San Diego Board of Port Commissioners, expressed her gratitude towards Disney Cruise Line and their partnership, saying, “This agreement not only enhances business operations between the Port, Disney and all our cruise line partners – it also supports a thriving cruise industry that injects millions into the region’s economy and welcomes thousands of visitors to our waterfront each year.”
Through this agreement, Disney has secured non-exclusive priority access to the Port’s North and South berths at the B Street cruise terminal, which will make arriving at the port easier for guests and assist the port in better planning for maximizing the terminal. Throughout the duration of this agreement, the port expects to see 1 million passengers just for Disney cruises alone. This represents the first time in more than 20 years that a cruise line has offered a minimum annual guarantee at the Port of San Diego.
Disney Cruise Line began sailing from this port in 2012 and remains a proud partner of the San Diego community, often working on collaborations with local nonprofits that focus on youth empowerment and environmental conservation. The Disney Magic and Disney Wonder will begin sailing from the port later this year. The Disney Magic arrives this October and will offer 3-7-night voyages through November, followed by a 14-night Panama Canal transit to Galveston. The Disney Wonder, on the other hand, will homeport in San Diego from October 2026 through April 2027, sailing 3-7-night itineraries to destinations including Catalina Island, Cabo San Lucas, Ensenada, and Puerto Vallarta.
