Even the Happiest Place on Earth has rules you have to follow!
No running in the parks, no selfie sticks, no illicit substances, and more. These rules are designed to keep everyone safe throughout the parks and to make sure everyone has a good time, too, of course! On a recent visit to the parks, we spotted some new (or newly enforced) rules at Disneyland Resort that you need to know about.
Heads up if you’ve got an upcoming trip to Disney California Adventure! There are some new ride rules you should be aware of. While this first one isn’t necessarily a new rule, over at Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, a long-standing rule is being newly enforced — no loose cell phones on the ride! There is even signage in the queue advising of this as well.
When we spoke with a Cast Member, they said it wasn’t a ban necessarily, but that they advise riders to have no loose articles in their hands at all before the vehicle is dispatched — they will not send the vehicle out until all loose articles are stored. If a phone is taken out on the ride, they won’t stop the ride, but they’re taking this extra precaution because too many people lose their phones on this ride.
If people lose their phones on this ride, the vehicles can run over them, which can cause the ride to break down — and can also potentially cause a broken phone! It’s best for everyone if you keep your phone stowed away so that there are no mishaps.
Over at Incredicoaster, loose items have always been banned for safety reasons, but with the rise of heavy metal water bottles — like Stanley cups — this rule is being enforced now more than ever. Cast Members said that if your Stanley cup or water bottle can fit into your bag, you’re able to bring it onto the ride with you as long as it is stowed away.
But, if your water bottle is loose, it must be placed on a small table off to the side before getting into the ride vehicle. This is to ensure the water bottle doesn’t dislodge and become a flying projectile. After the ride, you can pick it back up and go about your day!
While these rules may not seem like a big deal, they’re important to know if you’ve got an upcoming trip to Disneyland planned, as they are being enforced more than they were in the past, depending on when you last visited. If you have any reservations about Disneyland rules, you can always check the Disneyland website or app before your visit to make sure you’re following them correctly. And, when in doubt, ask a Cast Member — that’s what they’re there for!
We’ll be on the lookout for even more rule changes you need to know about at Disneyland and beyond. In the meantime, make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news and more!
