If you felt a shift in the Force, you’re not imagining things. Some MASSIVE changes are hitting Disneyland at hyperspeed!
Disney sent shockwaves throughout the galaxy when it announced that Disneyland’s Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge land is changing up its theming! Beginning April 29th, 2026, Galaxy’s Edge is getting a timeline reset to include more Star Wars eras — expanding the land’s offerings in a way we’ve never seen! There are a ton of new features and offerings coming to the land, so let’s get into the nitty-gritty.
When the change officially happens on April 29th, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will usher in a “new point in the Star Wars saga like never before,” according to Disney. This timeline change will span Star Wars films and television across the decades to include characters and storylines from The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, The Mandalorian, and Ahsoka. As such, guests will get to experience the Galactic Civil War, the New Republic, the Age of the Resistance, and the First Order all in one Disneyland day!
As such, DARTH VADER IS FINALLY COMING TO BATUU FULLTIME!!! He’ll be joined by Imperial Stormtroopers as they hunt down the remaining Jedi and look to squash the rebellion. The Disney Visa meet-and-greet in Tomorrowland that was formerly home to Darth Vader will now be home to Kylo Ren.
Speaking of the rebellion, Princess Leia Organa, Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, and Chewbacca will be found in the land, as well. You can spot Leia near the Millennium Falcon, recruiting travelers and locals to help keep Luke safe. Skywalker will roam the outpost in his quest for knowledge of the Force and artifacts related to lightsaber building, kyber crystals, and more, per Disney. Han will be found hanging out near his iconic Millennium Falcon, not too far from Oga’s Cantina.
Some newer characters that have already appeared in Batuu will be staying, like Ahsoka Tano, the Mandalorian, and Grogu! They can be found near the marketplace.
R2-D2 has also become a popular droid in Batuu, and will continue rolling around near Droid Depot and the garage.
Rey will be found around the Resistance Camp.
We’re also super excited for some audio changes coming to Galaxy’s Edge! You’ll be able to hear John Williams’ beloved Star Wars scores — such as “Main Title” and “Force Theme” — when you enter the land. As you wander around, you’ll hear motifs from other classic tracks, including “Han Solo and the Princess,” “The Desert and the Robot Auction,” “The Emperor,” and more. These changes have been a long time comin’ and will bring the land to life in a way we’ve been dreaming of.
Over at Oga’s Cantina, “Cantina Band” will finally be played, evoking some old-school Galactic Civil War vibes.
But that’s not all. The First Order Cargo shop will transform into Black Spire Surplus, a military salvage operation with artifacts from across the history of the galaxy. Here, you can find “relics” themed after both the Empire and Rebel Alliance from the Galactic Civil War.
Dok Ondar’s Den of Antiquities will also get some adjustments, displaying a different array of one-of-a-kind items from its past.
The Droid Depot is getting in on the fun, as an earlier generation of the Mubo family will now be operating this location, where you can find prototypes of the BB-style droids. Disney’s teased that you might even catch Luke Skywalker meeting with Savi in his search for information on lightsabers and the Force at Savi’s Workshop!
Fortunately, the land really isn’t losing much. You can still enjoy the same rides and food that have become a staple of Galaxy’s Edge, and the projection show “Shadows of Memory: A Skywalker Saga” is still offered. Additionally, “Fire of the Rising Moons” will also continue on select nights.
To coincide with this timeline blend in Galaxy’s Edge, a brand-new comic will be released on April 22nd titled Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge — Echoes of the Empire — so keep an eye out and pick up a copy!
While all of these changes are exciting, we do have to note that they are ONLY slated for Disneyland’s version of Galaxy’s Edge currently, so Disney’s Hollywood Studios is still waiting for changes of its own…assuming the Florida park will follow suit.
We’ll be bringing you a first look at these changes once April 29th rolls around, so be sure to check back here for an in-depth look at the new (and hopefully improved) Galaxy’s Edge. In the meantime, keep it posted right here at the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news, tips, and reviews!
