Something new (well, returning but different?) is here at EPCOT, and we’re taking you along with us.
Refreshment Port was turned into La Poutinerie and is officially open to the public to serve all of your poutine needs. While the Refreshment Port also served poutine, the stand was given a refresh and now has Air Canada as the sponsor, so let’s check it out.
You can find La Poutinerie in the Canana Pavilion, and it will be open from 11 AM to 5 PM daily. They offer two different types of poutine along with some alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.
You’ll order at the window and pick up your dishes before finding a spot to sit.
During the EPCOT festivals, Refreshment Port usually had a specialty dish, so we’re hoping this tradition returns. The EPCOT Food & Wine Festival runs from August 27th to November 21st, and while menus haven’t been released, we’re going to be keeping an eye out for an extra special poutine dish.
The menu has two different types of poutine, including:
- Québec: L’Authentique – French fries, cheese curds, and brown gravy ($10.99)
- Montréal: Viande Fuméev – French fries, cheese curds, smoked meat, pickles, and mustard gravy ($12.49)
For non alcoholic drinks, you can have:
- Spiced Apple Slushy – frozen ginger beer blended with lively lime and cozy spiced apple flavors ($6.29)
- DASANI Bottles Water ($4.25)
- smartwater ($6.25)
- Assorted Coca-Cola Fountain Beverages ($4.47)
There are also a few alcoholic beverages, including:
- Spiced Apple Mule – frozen ginger beer blended with lively lime and cozy spiced apple flavors with Iceberg Canadian Vodka ($14.50)
- Molsen Canadian Lager ($10.75)
- Jackson-Triggs Reserve Red Blend ($12)
- Unibroue La Fin du Monde Belgian-style Tripel Ale ($14)
- Domaine Ste. Michelle Brut, Columbia Valley ($7.50)
We tried both poutine dishes (duh!), but we started with the Québec: L’Authentique, which has French fries, cheese curds, and brown gravy for $10.99. This is going to be your classic take on the dish.
These were incredibly well-fried, shoestring-style French fries with the skin on. They are very well-seasoned and delicious, a bit of an upgrade from the fries that used to be served here. The cheese curds are exactly what you would want — squeaky, cheesy, and fresh tasting, while the gravy was surprisingly light. This is absolutely delicious. The serving is big enough to share, and we think this is an improvement on the traditional poutine that used to be served at Refreshment Port before the change. The gravy is salty and unctuous but not too heavy or goopy, giving it lots of depth. Overall, we LOVED this, and it will certainly become a go-to EPCOT snack for us.
We also had the Montréal: Viande Fumée for $12.49, which has French fries, cheese curds, smoked meat, pickles, and mustard gravy.
This is different than what you might consider to be a traditional poutine. It has a mustard sauce, which goes incredibly well with the smoked beef that smothers the top of it, and the pickles add a crisp, fresh element. When you get a little bit of everything all in one bite, the flavors work really well together. The mustard gravy is tangy and helps cut through the salty, smoky meat and cheese, while the pickles add a perfect crunch. Our reporter still preferred the traditional poutine, but thought that this one was a nice change. Again, it was plenty for two people to share as a snack or for one person to have as a meal.
To drink, we tried the Spiced Apple Mule for $12.49, which has frozen ginger beer blended with lively lime and cozy spiced apple flavors with Iceberg Canadian Vodka.
The ginger beer in this adds a pleasant burn to heavy autumnal flavors — it tastes like fall in a cup with so many warm, yummy spices, and the lime actually comes through. You can barely taste the vodka at the back end, which is very nice. There is a burn coming from the frozen ginger beer, so if you’re not a fan of ginger beer, this may not be your cup of tea. However, we will be lining up here to try this over and over again through the fall because it tastes like fall in a cup, and apple lovers will absolutely love this.
Does La Poutinerie live up to Refreshment Port? We think so! We have our poutine back in EPCOT, which is a huge win, and we’re excited to see if anything new pops up here for the EPCOT Food & Wine Festival!
We’re so glad we can finally get poutine again in EPCOT! In the meantime, make sure you keep following Disney Food Blog for more food reviews you need to know before your next Disney World trip, so you can have the best trip ever.
