Today may be the final day for DINOSAUR’s final day in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, but it also marks only ONE month left until another iconic ride closes in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
We know, it’s hard to believe, but it’s TRUE. In just one month, one of the most well-known and popular rides in the park will be no more. You’ve only got one more month to ride the current version of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster!
Back in early January, it was announced that the current version of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith will be closing on March 2nd, 2026, meaning that March 1st will be the final day to ride, which is now (somehow) only ONE month away.
Now, remember, while the theming of Aerosmith is going away, the ride isn’t completely going away! Instead of Aerosmith, the new version of the ride will be themed to the Muppets — more specifically, Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem, along with some other Muppet friends like Kermit, Miss Piggy, Scooter, and more.
The new version of the coaster is expected to open in Summer 2026, which is a pretty quick turnaround time for any theme park, but especially Disney. However, Disney closed the existing pre-show of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster out of nowhere back on December 1st, likely to start working on it faster.
The story around the new version of the attraction is that the Electric Mayhem is headlining the biggest concert of their careers. Guests are given VIP passes that allow them inside the recording studio, where they discover the band in the middle of an epic jam session. You’ll see the penguins as the audio engineers, and Scooter is trying to keep things on schedule — part of that is needing your help to get the band to the venue on time. Disney hasn’t announced what the soundtrack of the new actual attraction will be, but we know it’ll be the Electric Mayhem bringing them to life.
Disney also confirmed that a first-of-its-kind Muppet animatronic will be part of the attraction, but we don’t know just yet who it could be! We’re very interested to find out, though, so while we’re going to miss the current version of the ride, there is a part of us that’s excited to see what the new version will be like.

Having always been a fan of the attraction, I was on it last week. I questioned why I ever loved it. The attraction is in dire need of change and I’m excited to see the Muppets. Unfortunately with a relatively quick turnaround we won’t see any improvements to the actual ride. When comparing Cosmic Rewind, Everest and Rock n’ Roller Coaster, it becomes apparent how rough of a ride Rock n’ Roller Coaster is. Technology has come a long way the past few decades and this is a ride that you feel everything rather than gliding.
