REVIEW: Did This New Disney Springs Float Give Love a Bad Name?

It’s no secret that we LOVE a good Walt Disney World snack, especially at Disney Springs. Recently, we to a sojourn to the park’s Italy Pavilion to sample a brand new sweet treat: A literal (in name) Love Potion.

Was this snack good enough to have us fall under its spell, or did we leave proclaiming “Love Stinks!”? Let’s find out…

Available at Vivoli il Gelato – the family-owned Disney Springs outpost of one of the oldest gelaterías in Florence, Italy, Vivoli’s, which has been scooping out homemade ice cream since 1930 – the $13.00 Love Potion is a milkshake-style drink that contains vanilla gelato, Strawberry Fanta, whipped cream, and sprinkles.

We found the Love Potion to be a perfectly acceptable Valentine’s Day treat, but not much more than that. From a flavor standpoint, it wasn’t really that strong, which was slightly surprising. Honestly, the list of ingredients – Strawberry Fanta, whipped cream, sprinkles, and gelato – initially made us think the drink might be too sweet, but in the end, the opposite was true, and we found ourselves wishing it was a bit sweeter!

As far as consistency goes, the Love Potion was similar to a traditional root beer float, but with the Fanta in place of the root beer.

Aesthetically, the drink definitely hit a home run as far as being a Valentine’s treat, thanks to its red color and the cup it was served in.

Overall, the Love Potion was a solid, if somewhat middle-of-the-road treat. We wouldn’t say we regret trying it, but we wouldn’t go out of our way to have it again. When you need a treat you know even the pickiest eaters will enjoy, this can be a welcomed sanctuary. Stay tuned to DFB for more reviews of Disney World’s newest snacks.
