Let’s face it — going to Disney World isn’t exactly easy these days. Between the crowds, the walking, the weather (sweltering heat, sudden thunderstorms, and even unexpected cold), and the need to be on your phone for Lightning Lanes & the My Disney Experience app — we can all probably use a bit of help when it comes to staying comfortable.
We aren’t spring chickens anymore, after all, so we asked those in their fifties on our team to share their Disney World essentials — and this is what they said!
Get this wide-brimmed sun hat for those sunny days
This sun hat features ventilation, UV resistance, and UPF 50+ protection. Its wide brim will keep your face and neck protected from the sun, and it features an adjustable drawstring inside the hat so it can fit snugly to your head. There’s also an adjustable chin strap, so you can easily take it off and wear it around your neck if you want.
This KT Tape is a lifesaver for pain relief and support
KT Tape products are hypoallergenic, rubber- and latex-free, and are developed to reduce allergic reaction triggers. It’s safe for most skin-types, but they recommend testing a small piece if you’re prone to irritations! Use it to provide superior strength and support for muscles, joints, and tendons.
We love this handheld mini fan for cooling down
Featuring a Fan, Flashlight, and Backup Power Bank, the JISULIFE pocket bear fan is your summer go-to essential for staying cool on hot days while offering versatile functionality to meet your diverse needs. With up to 19 hours of cooling time on a single charge, this mini handheld fan ensures you stay refreshed during travel, concerts, and outdoor adventures; Conveniently rechargeable via USB.
Make sure you pack some Tums for heartburn relief
Chances are, you’ll be eating some food that your body might not be used to when you’re at Disney World. This heartburn and acid indigestion medicine treats the four signs of heartburn: burning in the chest, acid indigestion, sour stomach, and upset stomach associated with these symptoms. Toss some in your park bag for immediate relief!
Don’t forget this Touchland hand sanitizer
Add a touch of magic to everyday with this special edition Disney & Touchland collaboration. This set features Wild Watermelon hydrating hand sanitizer and a timeless Mickey Mouse Mist Case. This skincare-forward hand sanitizer is enriched with aloe vera and essential oils, leaving hands sanitized, hydrated, and delicately scented. Effective against the most common germs.
Get these Disney reading glasses so you can read your phone easily
This pair of Foster Grant x Disney cat eye glasses features an all-over Mickey Mouse print on the frames and comes in several different magnifications for anything you might need! Since you’ll likely need to be on your phone a lot when you’re in the parks, having a cheap pair of eyeglasses you don’t mind getting banged up or potentially losing can be a game-changer.
This Moleskin tape will save you from blisters
This adhesive moleskin tape can help prevent blisters, no matter which type of shoes you’re wearing. It prevents direct friction between your foot and shoe and can alleviate the pain of new shoes grinding against your feet. This set comes with 110 pieces on 10 different sheets, so you can toss a sheet into your park bag for emergencies.
We love these cooling towels
These cooling towels come in a 4-pack and are made of a breathable mesh material, which makes it easy to activate the chilling towel when you simply soak, wring it out, and snap it on. The unique cooling system uses moisture from the towel to draw the sweat away from your skin to keep you cool. They come in a waterproof bag and can easily be reused throughout the day.
Grab this Dreamegg portable white noise machine
This portable sound machine can make all the difference when you’re staying at a Disney World hotel. The portable sound machine offers 16 soothing nature sounds, including ocean waves, rain, birds, fan sounds, and white noise, catering to various preferences and needs. These sounds effectively mask background noise, helping you fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer.
Don’t forget these lacrosse balls for pain relief
This lacrosse massage ball has a hardness of 45 degrees, with a single point of pressure that reaches directly to the fascia that surrounds the outer layers of the muscles, relieving muscle fatigue and pain in the legs, hands, arms, neck, back, and feet. It’s perfect for sore feet at the end of the day!
And finally, pack some of these Epsom salts for a cozy bath
Fancy a bath in your Disney hotel at the end of the night? These convenient, single-use Mineral Bath Soak packets allow you to relax and unwind while on-the-go. Take a dip in the tub with a powerful blend of essential oils and extracts, including Arnica, Blueberry, and Ginger Root. What better way to end a long Disney park day?!

Fans in their 50s or 70s? I’m 67 & other than moleskin for the occasional blister I’ve never needed any of those things. Please don’t make us old before our time.😉
There is hope for all you 50+ when you reach 60 & 70 you don’t need all that stuff. about 3 items the glass to read anything ,so no extra glasses. The cooling Towel that everyone need. And the Tums, but mostly back in the room. The bag you take to the park will be much lighter.
lol this is the second article in a week I’ve read about 50+ Disney park goers. The other was over at AllEars and it was the same stuff only worse. My husband and I are 55/56 and we wore our 17 Daughter and 24 yo Army Airborne soldier son out last November. We went morning to night non stop 5 days with no issues. 3 rd trip in a year doing the same pace. We don’t plan on stopping. These articles make it sound like we should all be using scooters Lol. Haven’t they heard 50 is the new 30??? For us it is. Financial Freedom plus empty nest. We are just getting started. Articles like these need to stop assuming EVERY older person is past their prime , out of shape and in poor health. I am not a fan of any type of generalizations.
There are definitely people in their 50s that can run circles around me! We just asked our teammates that were in their 50s or had parents in their 50s that they could consult and these were the items that were suggested. We understand they are not for everyone and are so happy you’re able to be so active.
