This year is as HUGE one for Star Wars fans. This is the year we’ll finally get to see The Mandalorian and Grogu in theaters. As a result, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run is getting a HUGE update in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in both Disney World and Disneyland. Disneyland is also getting original trilogy characters in Batuu.
We also have Ahsoka season 2 to look forward to on Disney+. Speaking of which, ANOTHER new Star Wars animated series is coming to Disney+ even sooner: Star Wars: Maul — Shadow Lord will premiere on Disney+ on April 6th. Well, ahead of that big premiere, Disney has dropped the first trailer for the show.
The new Maul-focused series will begin with a two-episode premiere on Disney+ on April 6th, followed by two episodes each week, building up to a finale on May the 4th (appropriately enough). The series picks up after the events of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Maul is on a mission to rebuild his criminal syndicate on a planet that exceeds the reach of the Empire. He’ll end up becoming Master to a young Padawan who’s become disillusioned with the Jedi Order. Check out the first trailer below:
For those who’ve seen Solo: A Star Wars Story, you might be wondering if this series will show what will essentially become Crimson Dawn, the criminal organization that Qi’ra (Emilia Clarke) is revealed to be a part of. Well, it certainly looks like a possibility, judging from the brief description we have. I’m crossing my fingers and toes, y’all!
Maul — Shadow Lord also has a stellar voice cast. Sam Witwer, who voiced the character in The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels, and Solo, is back as Maul. The voice cast also includes Gideon Adlan, Golden Globe winner and Oscar nominee Wagner Moura, and British comedian Richard Ayoade (The IT Crowd).
We’ll be keeping an eye out for more big Star Wars news, so stay tuned to DFB for more.
