We are getting more and more excited for this huge ride change coming to one of our favorite Star Wars rides this May, and Disney just gave us a bit of insight as to what we can expect.

New missions will be added to Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort, featuring the Mandalorian and Grogu.
Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run is getting a new mission from The Mandalorian and Grogu movie on May 22nd, 2026, at both Disneyland and Disney World, and Disney just dropped some new details.
On an episode of We Call It Imagineering, Disney’s YouTube series that takes us behind the scenes of upcoming projects, we got a better idea of what’s going on in Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run. They explained that there are five projectors that all work together, and that, with their new collaboration with Epic Games, Disney wanted to ensure the quality is the same from a single screen to the ride.
With the update, we’ll see a new scene with the Mandalorian and Grogu, and they also said we can expect higher-quality graphics. The scenes will also be more interactive, as they can render graphics in real time, making your flight feel more realistic.
They also wanted to make sure every position on the ride has a great experience, so the engineer, who in the past had not had much to do, will be able to pick the location everyone travels to. We’re excited to see how we’ll be able to pick!
When adding the updates, Disney said it was like shopping through a library of assets. They were able to pick and choose scenes with Epic Games and be able to move them directly to the ride. It’s been more efficient and easier to bring the scenes to life.
I don’t know about you, but I have May 22nd circled in my calendar as this update comes to both Disneyland and Disney World. Make sure you keep following Disney Food Blog for more Disney news.
