We’ve had our fair share of odd Disney World treats, but this one takes the cake — er, churro.
Disney World churros are a controversial topic, often known as the lesser version compared to Disneyland’s. Some say it’s the humidity that makes them not as crisp and crunchy as others, but hey, can you ever really be disappointed by a cinnamon-sugar delight such as this? It depends on who you ask! And since you’re here, it looks like you’re asking us. Let’s find out if this new Banana Cream Pie Churro can redeem Disney World once and for all.
We stopped by Sunshine Churros at Disney Springs to try the new Banana Cream Pie Churro, available for $7.99. This is a classic churro split in two, rolled in graham cracker crumbs, drizzled with banana cream, caramel sauce, and topped with whipped cream. Sounds like a dream for banana lovers, right? Let’s find out how it tastes!
Our reporters said the banana cream tastes pretty much exactly like the artificial banana flavor in a Laffy Taffy. They tasted some of the caramel flavor from the caramel drizzle and a bit of sweet creaminess from the whipped cream, but the most prominent flavor they tasted was the artificial banana.
The churro was on the dry side, which Disney World churros can be — it tasted like it had been sitting out for a while. While we didn’t love this, if you like that artificial banana flavor of Laffy Taffy, you will probably like this. We probably wouldn’t get it again, as the churro was dry and the banana flavor was a bit overpowering. In theory, these flavors work together, but the artificial banana flavor really just threw things off for us.
We’ll be on the lookout for more unique churro flavors and snacks to review around Disney World. In the meantime, make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news and beyond!
