We LOVE our Disney Food Blog readers, and we love the big opinions that come with it. Y’all don’t hold back in the comments, and we love hearing your thoughts and ideas about Disney Parks.
Disney recently announced the timeline for Cinderella Castle in Magic Kingdom getting repainted to its original gray and blue colors, and we’re sharing our favorite comments from our Instagram page (which you should totally follow by the way).
A lot of fans are excited for the repainting! The castle was painted pink to celebrate Disney World’s 50th anniversary, and years later, we’re finally going back. One commenter said, “Thank goodness. The pink was all wrong,” and another said, “I can’t wait for it to be dreamy and ethereal again with the white.”
“Good. It was awful and NOT her castle,” was another comment. Sleeping Beauty Castle in Disneyland has more pink colors, and a lot of people didn’t love the pink coming to Cinderella Castle in Magic Kingdom.
We loved this comment that said, “As Gen X, original first year guest, excited for my grandkids to see it as I knew it throughout my childhood.” The gray and blue are so nostalgic, we’re pretty excited, too.
Many fans were concerned about the timeline, which we totally understand. The repainting is confirmed to start in January, but the exact date is still unknown. We think it’s going to be around January 28th, which is when a modified Let The Magic Begin welcome show will happen. There were a lot of comments about specific months, and it seems like everyone is asking, “When do they expect it to be finished?”
Right now, the work is expected to be completed later next year, but in Disney talk, that could mean anything. It could mean June, or it could mean December. We’ll be keeping our eye on this to see how progress is coming along and how this will affect your trip. The moat will be drained, and once painting starts, the cranes will be lowered and out of sight by noon each day, which is pretty great for pictures.
As with any change at Disney, some are excited, and some are dreading it, which we understand. Someone said, “I love Disney, but there’s so much construction going on right now with some rides down.” Piston Peak, the Cars-themed land, and Villains Land are currently being built near Liberty Square and Frontierland, which is causing a LOT of construction walls and equipment. Other attractions are going through refurbishments and aren’t open yet, like Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin.
Another comment said, “It stands out so much better against the sky when it’s pink.” The pink did make for some awesome photos. Others think, “It’s a big waste of time and pointless.”
There were a few comments along the line of “can you bring back dream lights,” and YES PLEASE DISNEY! The castle used to get fully decked out in Christmas lights, and we’ve missed it for years.
Now you tell us: what do you think about the painting starting soon? Tell us your thoughts in the comments and make sure you keep following Disney Food Blog, where we’re in the parks every single day, bringing back the best tips and tricks for your next trip.

ANY paint job on the castle is better than when they turned it into a birthday cake.
I LIKE the current paint job, especially the darker blue turrets and the darker gray brickwork. Which just goes to prove that everyone has different tastes.
I’m continually amazed that Disney wastes money on “improvements” that are a disaster! Imagine if they hadn’t built the Star Wars hotel and instead used that money to add rides in Germany or revamp the Imagination pavilion!!!????
I’ve never had a problem with the pink, but I think it looks more elegant in the original color. I’m looking forward to seeing it again!
