There’s so much construction happening at Magic Kingdom right now. When we went to check out the testing on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, a sneak peek of a brand-new land caught our eye!
The all-new Cars-themed land, Piston Peak, is under construction right in front of Big Thunder Mountain. We could see some of the progress during the Big Thunder Mountain test drives!
When we zoom in on the Piston Peak construction, it looks like the land will be right up against the ride track of Big Thunder Mountain! There are construction walls right next to the Big Thunder Mountain queue, with the area full of construction materials and vehicles.
When we looked at the Big Thunder Mountain queue, there were massive construction walls that went right up against the queue line! It looks like Piston Peak will be a seamless transition between the roller coaster and Cars Land.
The aerial construction shows that the ground is already leveled, with some foundation and structural work just beginning. It looks like we should be able to see more of the Piston Peak area when Big Thunder Mountain reopens, so we’ll be sure to update once it reopens!
Disney has already announced its plans for Cars Land — you’ll enter Piston Peak National Park and zoom around with Cars characters, including Lightning McQueen and Mater, in two new rides. One will be a rally race, and the other will be a more family-friendly one.
We’re so excited to see what Piston Peak looks like when it’s finally completed. Stay tuned to Disney Food Blog for more Disney World news!

I don’t care about Piston Peak or Carsland. They’ve desecrated the Magic Kingdom when they took out the Rivers of America. It was one of the most beautiful spots in the entire WDW complex. For a company that is so big on the environment you get paper straws, they sure don’t seem to care about the wildlife and eco system they just destroyed. Adding more concrete to an already stifling hot area is not smart. My dream trip was to be a month at WDW, taking my time and enjoying everything. Not anymore. I will no longer set foot on Disney property. Universal is getting my allegiance.
I hope this comes out cute and I eat my words, but I still think this would have made an awesome addition to Hollywood Studios with the other Pixar stuff. Maybe it would have helped more even distribution of the guests between the Parks.
