Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is once again happening at Magic Kingdom! We have been there (twice this year) to see, do, eat, and drink EVERYTHING at the holiday event, because we love it that much and want to bring you the best coverage possible.
We go to this Christmas party every year, and every year we adore it. It’s a very special experience that makes the holiday season even merrier. However, we do have to admit that this year, we noticed a slightly unfortunate side effect of going to this party, and we had to warn you!
Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party happens on select nights throughout November and December. The party officially happens from 7 PM to midnight, but those with a party ticket can get into Magic Kingdom at 4 PM on the date of their party.
Since this event happens in the winter at night, you might think that the weather will be great, with cooler temps, even in Florida. However, that’s not necessarily the case for the entire time, and we need to let you know that, in fact, the opposite can be true with potentially severe consequences. When we were headed to the party, we got to the gate a bit before 4 PM, and that’s when we realized that heat exhaustion could be a very real thing at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party!
When you get to the park and you’re waiting outside the gate, there is no shade, no water, and LOTS of crowds. On top of that, it’s likely that you, along with many others, are wearing Christmas outfits, which usually tend to be on the warmer side, like sweaters and Santa hats. We were cooking, waiting in line to get into the park in the glaring hot sun around 4 PM!
If you’re planning to get to the park early and know you’ll end up waiting in line to get in, we definitely recommend bringing a filled water bottle. One like this Owala water bottle would be essential to have every day in the parks, but especially while in line for the party.
We also suggest packing one of these mini fans in your park bag. They can help keep you feeling cooler and refreshed if you’re growing flushed.
We truly love going to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. This may be a small inconvenience to plan for, but overall, we still encourage you to check out the party if you’re planning a holiday visit to Disney World.

A way to beat the heat and and get in at 4p is to arrive at the Transportation center at 3:30, take the resort Monorail to the Contemporary Resort, then walk over to the MK at 3:45 to get in at 4p. At least you can stay cool and shop if you like in comfort. The resort Monorail should be dead at that time and you can get there quickly and get a free ride to make your day.
In 2019 my husband bought a lovely thick Toy Story Christmas jumper to wear at MVMCP. Only on that evening it was 27c/81f! He wore it for the photo as we arrived then it was straight off and tied round his waist for the rest of the evening!
Oof, I made that mistake with a sweater dress one year and had to buy a t-shirt and leggings. Layering is always a good idea.
