It seems like everywhere you turn, there’s some kind of construction going on in Disney World. Three out of the four theme parks are getting new lands and expansions, while Disney Springs is getting a new store and a new social interactive experience.
Disney World hotels are also making big changes, too, which means LOTS of construction. Well, one Disney World hotel, Disney’s Port Orleans Resort — Riverside, just extended its construction, and the date for its completion has been pushed back by a year.
Disney has been refurbishing the rooms in the Magnolia Bend part of the resort since May 2025. That construction was initially scheduled to be completed by January 2026, but has recently been pushed back until February 2026. Now, though, Disney’s plans for Port Orleans — Riverside seem to have expanded, and the construction completion date has now been pushed back until August 2027.
Previously, the Disney World website stated that guest rooms in Magnolia Bend at the hotel would be undergoing refurbishment. However, the website now states the following:
“From early May 2025 through August 2027, Guest rooms at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside will undergo refurbishment throughout different parts of the Resort hotel. During this time, Guests may see or hear construction work in the area.”
So it seems like more guest rooms at the resort beyond Magnolia Bend will be getting a refurbishment. So if you’re planning a stay in Disney World and don’t want to be around construction, you may want to skip staying at this hotel through 2027.
Disney has not been clear on what’s happening with the rooms and what they will look like once the refurbishment is complete, but we’ll keep an eye out for any details, so stay tuned to DFB for more.
