The holidays have arrived in Disneyland Resort…do you know what that means? It’s time to EAT!
Just like any other seasonal celebration, the holliest jolliest time of year comes with tons of new sweets and savory items in the parks, and as the Disney Food Blog, it’s our duty to try a BUNCH of them and report back to you. So are these new snacks worth your time and money? Let’s find out!
Schmoozies
Starting our food tour out at Disney California Adventure, we first headed to Schmoozies to grab the Red Velvet Mickey Shaped Waffles for $10.99. These are filled with cream cheese and topped with whipped cream.
We got a light chocolate taste from the red velvet, but nothing overly rich or strong. Sadly, they weren’t the freshest, served room temperature, and a little bit difficult to tear apart after they cooled. They were, however, nice and crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside.
The cream cheese added a light vanilla flavor that paired perfectly with the red velvet and the sweetness overall. All in all, they were a fun and very pretty treat.
Maybe not a #1 must-get item, but a good snack for Mickey waffle fans!
Cozy Cone Motel 3
Our next stop was the Cozy Cone Motel 3, where we ordered Jerry’s Junk Truck Cone for $13.49. This is filled with chopped fried chicken, garlic mashed potatoes, corn, chicken gravy, and cheese, and topped with green onions.
We got strong comfort food vibes from this one. There’s a nice mix of peppery, garlic, and cheesy flavors. The potatoes had a nice hint of garlic, as well as a texture that wasn’t too dense or fluffy. The corn added some sweetness while the chicken gave us some peppery notes.
Our only complaint here is that we only got like 3 or 4 of the fried chicken pieces in the cone — we wanted more. The warm comfort flavors were perfect for this gloomy day, though, and we’d definitely get this one again.
Jolly Holiday
Heading over to Disneyland, we stopped at Jolly Holiday to snag the White Mocha Peppermint Tree Macaron for $8.29. This is filled with peppermint buttercream and a coffee bundt cake center.
This was not our favorite of the batch. It was hard to eat, broke easily, and the peppermint in the buttercream was overly strong. We definitely got a strong toothpaste flavor from the filling, and not much sweetness at all.
However, we did enjoy the top piece we pulled off that didn’t have the buttercream on it. It was a light and sweet chocolate flavor with a light minty aftertaste. The coffee cake filling had hints of caramel and hazelnut.
This might not be one of our favorites, but if you can stand the strong mint flavor, you may enjoy it.
Harbour Galley
At Harbour Galley, you can get the Gingerbread Cookies 6-pack for $7.79 along with the Holiday Royal Icing Dipping Sauce for $1.39. A classic combo!
These were absolutely DELIGHTFUL gingerbread cookies. There was a decent level of spices without being too heavy, and the outside of the cookies was crisp while keeping a soft center. There was a light ginger and cinnamon flavor throughout that we loved.
The icing dipping sauce wasn’t anything too special — just a sweet vanilla flavor with a kind of runny texture.
If you’re a gingerbread fan, you have GOT to come try these!
Red Rose Taverne
Last but not least, we headed to Red Rose Taverne to grab the Holiday Butter Cake Sundae for $8.29. This is a warm chocolate butter cake, peppermint ice cream, chocolate sauce, and crushed peppermint.
This was the perfect holiday dessert! The butter cake is served warm and has a rich, decadent chocolate flavor. This dessert is still pretty minty, but it didn’t bother us like the macaron from earlier.
The chocolate sauce that covered the ice cream helped cut some of the mint, while the butter cake had the same effect. The ice cream had a mild peppermint with hints of a sweet, creamy vanilla flavor in some bites. This was truly delicious!
We can’t wait to explore more of the holiday offerings in Disneyland Resort throughout the season! We’ll keep you in the loop.
