For months now, there’s been no Virtual Queue attractions in Disney World, but that has changed for the next two days!
To celebrate the opening of Zootopia: Better Zoogether! on November 7th, Disney is offering Annual Passholder previews on November 5th and 6th. Overall, there are only FOUR chances to get in the virtual queue to see this show early, so here’s a step-by-step guide to getting a spot!
Each day of previews, there will be two Virtual Queue drops — one at 7 AM and the other at 1 PM. For both of these drops, Annual Passholders need to have a park pass reservation to Animal Kingdom, but they can be located anywhere. Not anywhere in the resort — literally anywhere!
So that’s all fine and dandy, but now that the practice of getting Virtual Queues has been gone for some time, some of us may feel a little out of practice (I know I do!). Let’s run through EXACTLY what you need to do to grab a spot in this Virtual Queue, no matter which one you’re grabbing. (Note that these rules go for EVERYONE in your party trying to grab a spot in the queue!)
- 10 minutes before the drop: Ensure you’re settled somewhere to put your full attention on the drop — those minutes tick by fast!
- 8 minutes before the drop: Check that you’re logged into your My Disney Experience App. If you’re not logged in, log in ASAP!
- 5 minutes before the drop: Use an internet speed checker to see how fast your speed is both on AND off wifi. Many times your data is faster than Disney wifi, but you’ll want to check to be sure, because it does depend on your carrier.
- 3 minutes before the drop: Pull up a world clock on your phone to ensure you’re right on time — some clocks/watches are slow/fast, and you want to be sure you’re getting it on the dot
- 1 minute before the drop: Go back and forth between the My Disney Experience app and the world clock to make sure you stay on the correct page for the drop — if Disney kicks you off, click back into it and reconfirm your party ASAP
- 15 seconds before the drop (based on the world clock): Go back to the My Disney Experience app and continue refreshing the page (ONLY the page of the virtual queue, not the app overall). We’ve noticed in the past that the drop happens on the SECOND, or sometimes a few seconds early.
So here’s the full step-by-step of what you need to do in the My Disney Experience app:
- From the app’s home page, click on the three lines at the bottom right of the screen. Scroll down until you see “Virtual Queue” — click on that.
- Click on the “Join Virtual Queue” button.
- You’ll be directed to this page. Refresh until the Virtual Queue becomes available.
- Once it’s available, you’ll want to join the virtual queue. Confirm your party (make sure everyone is connected on the My Disney Experience app).
- You’ll receive a boarding group number with an estimated wait time. Note that this could change throughout the day.
- You’ll be able to see your virtual queue’s status and estimated callback time on the app’s home page.
- You can check the status of your boarding group at any time.
- The app will let you know when it’s time to get in line for the attraction. Make sure you have notifications turned on, but you can also keep an eye on the app throughout the day.
This new attraction is a 4D show where you’ll use Carrot Vision 3D Glasses to join in on the Zoogether Day celebrations, which is “a celebration of unity amongst the diverse biomes across the city, will be recognized with special performances such as ice-skating spectaculars from the heart of Tundratown!”
Heidi Howler hosts a live broadcast of the celebration, and Benjamin Clawhauser, who is decked out in glow necklaces, bracelets, and his favorite glittery Gazelle tee shirt to celebrate the day, watches with us in anticipation of hopefully becoming the V.I.Z. (Very Important Zootopian – the lucky mammal who will get special access to the Zoogether Day performers). However, things don’t go as planned, and he takes things into his own hands!
We’ll be bringing you all of the latest updates from Disney World, so stay tuned to DFB!
