When it comes to amazing restaurants, EPCOT certainly has its share. You can just basically walk around World Showcase and dine around the world! We love the ‘ol “snack and stroll” method when we’re spending a day in EPCOT, but sometimes, we find ourselves craving a nice, hearty meal.
Well, one of the most highly-rated restaurants in EPCOT is in the Canada Pavilion, and yep, you know we’re talking about Le Cellier (we could go on for DAYS about the cheese soup there). However, it’s been a hot minute since we dined there, so we revisited Le Cellier to see if it still holds up.
Atmosphere
You’ll find Le Cellier tucked away in the Canada Pavilion. You’ll have to walk through the gardens to get there, but trust us, it’s a scenic walk. This is one of the prettiest pavilions in EPCOT! You’ll eventually come across the Hotel du Canada: Le Cellier is located on the bottom level.
Once you walk into the restaurant, you’ll feel like you’re in a cave. Well, this restaurant is called LE CELLIER, which translates to “the cellar.” So it’s sort of like dining in a wine cellar in a cave.
Just like any cave, though, it’s pretty dark in here. The atmospheric lighting adds ambiance, but what it doesn’t add a lot of is light. Have the flashlight app on your phone ready if you want to see the menu. However, the dim lighting does make for a romantic atmosphere, so this is a great date night spot. Seating is tables and chairs, but you’ll also find some booths. We will admit, though, that the tables are pretty close together. Beware if you like to have your own personal space!
But enough about the restaurant — what’s on the menu here?!
Menu
The menu features a variety of traditional Canadian dishes, including poutine, as well as the famous cheese soup. You’ll also find steak on the menu (that’s what they’re known for around here!). Note that some plant-based options are also available (and we’re trying those, too!).
There are also a few choices of desserts, ice wines, after-dinner drinks, tea, and more.
The wine list is extensive! There are also featured cocktails, ice wine flights, whiskey flights, and beer options.
And now, onto the main event — the food!
Eats
The meal begins with a Bread Service, served with Salted Butter. You get a variety of breads, but if we had to pick a favorite, it’s gotta be the Pretzel Bread, which is salted and is the perfect combination of a soft pretzel and bread roll. We also really enjoyed the Multigrain Roll, which is moist, rich, and hearty. We were expecting a Sourdough Roll in our basket, but it never showed up, so we can’t comment on that.
As a starter, we ordered the Signature Poutine with Hand-cut Pomme Frites, Cheese Curds, Cheddar, and Cabernet Demi for $17. Poutine is a quintessential Canadian comfort food, but this is a slightly elevated version of it. This is a popular starter here, and for good reason. It’s shareable, although you could make a meal out of it.
We were impressed with the quality of the cheese. Its sharpness surprised us. Also, the use of a red wine Demi instead of gravy makes it a wee bit fancier than regular poutine. They even pour it on the fries at the table, which is a nice touch. The fries also have some skin on them, and they were so good, which just makes the poutine that much better. It’s all about quality ingredients.
Of course, we’re not visiting Le Cellier without ordering the Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup with Moosehead Pale Ale and Nueske’s Applewood-smoked Bacon for $15. This is ALWAYS a must, and it NEVER disappoints. Y’all, it’s really hard not to just put our whole face in the bowl and lick it clean.
It has such a nice depth of flavor with a rich cheddar flavor. We love cheese…you know that…and this is one of the best cheesy things you can get in Disney World. Now, we have to inform you that you can grab this during the EPCOT Food & Wine Festival at the Canada Booth for far less money if you’re just craving the soup.
As this is technically a steakhouse, we ordered the 12-oz. New York Strip Steak for our entree. For $62, you get a Butcher’s Cut with one side (we chose the Crispy Brussels Sprouts) and one sauce. The steak was cooked exactly the way we asked for…medium rare. Is it the best New York Strip we’ve had in our lives? Maybe not. But it has a bold flavor and is very tender. The steak also has a nice seasoning on the outer crust. Our only complaint is that we would have liked a little more pepper in that seasoning. But it’s a minor complaint.
The Crispy Brussels Sprouts aren’t really crispy, but they are tasty. They come with a maple glaze that just really makes the flavors pop. The Brussels sprouts are so well-cooked that they just practically melt in your mouth. The texture is great, too… there’s a bit of crispness to the end of the leaves. The addition of golden raisins adds a nice burst of fruitiness.
We also got the Sauce Flight for $9. You get five sauces: Chardonnay-Truffle Butter, Cabernet Demi, Cognac-Peppercorn, Béarnaise, and Sauce Verte. The sauces are all good, although the Cabernet Demi is a bit overwhelming. Our favorites were the Peppercorn and Béarnaise. However, we will say that we don’t think the flight is worth it unless multiple people are ordering steak.
Okay, let’s talk about plant-based options. The Roasted Cauliflower “Steak” is served with Beluga Lentils, Vine-ripened Tomatoes, Tahini, Dukkah, and Garden Herbs for $38. Y’all…this surprised us SO much. The preparation was perfect, and there was flavor throughout the whole thing. There was a nice roasted crust on the outer edges with a light smokiness and caramelization that brought out the nutty flavor of the cauliflower. The tahini adds a creamy, tangy, and earthy flavor, balanced by the warmth of the dukkah. We were getting a Middle Eastern flavor vibe with this, and we’re not mad about it.
The herbs on top of the cauliflower added a nice freshness to each bite. This particular meal might sound dull on paper, but it was so much more incredible than we could have imagined. This was a vegetable course treated with the same thoughtful preparation that a meat dish might receive. You don’t even have to be vegan to appreciate the beauty and flavor of this.
Okay, so time for dessert. The Maple Crème Brûlée for $15 is served with Chantilly, Gooseberries, and Tuile. This has a STRONG maple flavor, and we think the maple is why it’s a bit thicker than a traditional crème brûlée. The sugar on top is also a maple sugar, so you’ve got a whole maple-on-maple thing going. It’s very indulgent, but also really good. Plus, it’s BEAUTIFUL. The gooseberries add a nice tartness.
We also ordered the plant-based The Wine Cellar’s Banana Split, which is a Roasted Banana Frozen Dessert, Pizzelle, Bing Cherries, and Chantilly for $13. Somehow, Le Cellier made a dessert that relies so heavily on dairy and made it work better than we expected. The bananas have a nice caramelization that adds some nice flavor. Underneath it all is a house-made coconut-based ice cream drizzled with dark chocolate sauce.
Even the cherries on top were fantastic because they were the more luxurious, deep red maraschino cherries. Everything all together just worked, and the execution of the entire dessert is perfect. We would come back to Le Cellier JUST to order this again. It’s another instance of how much thought is put into the plant-based dishes here. You don’t always get that in Disney World.
But WAIT. There’s more. Because we were celebrating a birthday, the restaurant also brought out the Birthday Moose Mousse. Yes, we’ve had dessert, but we’re having more because this time, it’s FREE. It’s a pretty basic chocolate mousse, but it is way better than it should be, especially as it’s a complimentary dessert. Mousse moose, y’all. How can you not love it?
Okay, so is Le Cellier worth your time in Disney World? Let’s see…
Nosh or Not
This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if…
- You’re celebrating a special occasion. This is a nice spot for a birthday, anniversary, or any other special occasion. The ambiance with the candlelight makes it all just feel so special.
- You’ve got time. If you want to spend some time on a full table service meal experience, Le Cellier has you covered. This is an EXPERIENCE, not just a quick grab-and-go meal.
- You’re on a plant-based diet. If you only want to eat plant-based food, you can get a great meal here that doesn’t feel like an afterthought, like so many other restaurants.
You should skip this Disney World spot if…
- You’re on a budget. A meal here can get pretty pricey, so if you’re on a tight budget, you might want to skip.
- You just want a quick meal. If you’re looking for a meal that you can order and eat fast, this isn’t it. This is a full table service dining experience.
- You don’t want to sit in the dark when you eat. The lighting is very dim in Le Cellier, so if you prefer to dine somewhere a little more well-lit, you’ll want to skip.
Overall
We love it when we revisit an old favorite restaurant and it still hits all the notes for us, and Le Cellier does just that. We’d come here for the cheese soup alone, but everything we ate during this meal really knocked it out of the park. That includes the plant-based options, which are very well thought out and prepared. That’s not something you can get at every Disney World restaurant, so Le Cellier still stays on our “Favorite EPCOT Restaurants” list.
In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for more restaurant updates from Disney World and beyond. Make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news and more!

The wine list at Le Cellier is hardly extensive although it has improved from the previously anemic list. The best restaurant at Epcot however is hands down Monsieur Paul. Expensive yes but no comparison to Le Cellier
The plant based dish looks amazing!!
