If you believe in faith, trust, and pixie dust, boy, have we got some big news for you.
Now, it’s no secret that Tinker Bell has always been a super popular Disney character. The sassy fairy made a splash with her debut in Peter Pan, but has since gone on to be the star of her own shows, as well as a character we always look forward to seeing in Disney World and Disneyland parades, as well as the occasional meet and greet. Well, Tinker Bell’s popularity has paid off because she’ll soon be getting her own live-action Disney+ series, according to Variety.
Disney+ is developing a live-action series called Tink that will be all about everyone’s favorite fairy. If that title sounds familiar, well, it’s a project that’s got a long history. In 2010, Tink was all set to be a live-action romcom starring Elizabeth Banks. Another version of the project had Reese Witherspoon attached. This new series will be a “high priority” project for Disney+, with Liz Heldens and Bridget Carpenter (Friday Night Lights) set to write and executive produce.
Former Disney Channels Worldwide president/Disney Branded Television president and chief creative officer, Gary Marsh, is also attached to the project, while Selfish Mermaid’s Quinn Haberman will also act as an executive producer. As to what the series will be about, though, is still a secret. Disney has not yet revealed a synopsis for the new show.
Most recently, Tinker Bell has been portrayed in live-action by Yara Shahidi, who played the character in the live-action Peter Pan and Wendy. She’s also been portrayed by Rose McIver in the TV series Once Upon A Time, and Julia Roberts in 1991’s Hook. Disney has not yet revealed any details about the casting of the series, but we’ll be keeping an eye out for updates.
In the meantime, stay tuned to DFB for more Disney news.
