Disney has officially confirmed that the Fantasy in the Sky fireworks show will take place at Magic Kingdom on both December 30th and 31st.
This special fireworks show only takes place two nights a year and is a great way to ring in the New Year at Disney World! While we were expecting Fantasy in the Sky to occur on both nights (as it typically does every year), Disney has officially updated the Magic Kingdom calendar to include the fireworks show and its times. If you’re heading to Magic Kingdom for New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Eve-Eve, here’s what you need to know!
Disney has officially confirmed showtimes for the Fantasy in the Sky fireworks at Magic Kingdom on December 30th and 31st! On both nights, the fireworks will take place twice — at both 7:30 PM and 11:50 PM. Note that on these nights, Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks will not be happening. The earlier fireworks show is great for kiddos who might not be able to make it to the official countdown!
EPCOT will also host a special fireworks celebration on December 31st only! Cheers to the New Year: A Sparkling Celebration will take place at 11:54 PM to count down to the new year. Luminous: The Symphony of Us will still happen that night at 6:30 PM.
It’s important to note that Park Pass Reservations are currently sold out for certain ticket types at Magic Kingdom on December 31st. This includes:
- Student group tickets
- Sport and convention tickets
- Florida Resident Disney Thrills ticket
- Disney Military Salute ticket
- Other tickets not mentioned outside of Annual Passes and date-based tickets
Folks with date-based tickets will still be able to visit Magic Kingdom without a reservation — as long as they get there early!
You can also still purchase date-based tickets for the holidays, but again, we expect these to sell out soon as we get closer and closer. These tickets include date-based tickets for 1-day, multi-day, and vacation packages with date-based tickets. While tickets are sold out in Magic Kingdom for the other ticket types, Disney may open more reservations. We recommend keeping an eye on it, and if you see the date open, book it quickly.
If you’ve never been to Magic Kingdom or EPCOT on New Year’s Eve, be prepared for LOTS of crowds. These are historically some of the busiest days of the whole year, and the parks have reached capacity in the past. Typically, Magic Kingdom and EPCOT will fill to capacity early in the morning, likely before 10AM, which means if you really want to be there at midnight, you’ll want to get there right away in the morning. If you have a Magic Kingdom reservation, you’ll be able to come and go, but if you’re planning on visiting the parks without a reservation, you can still be turned away. The same is true for the other parks as well.
Magic Kingdom is currently the only one sold out, but EPCOT is also a huge place for New Year’s celebrations! Many of the countries in the World Showcase celebrate New Year’s during their country’s time zone, which makes it fun to head from country to country to check it all out.
Keep in mind that parks CAN reach capacity on busy holidays like Christmas and New Year’s — especially New Year’s Eve, with so many people wanting to ring in the New Year at the Most Magical Place on Earth. If you’re planning on visiting the parks but don’t want to waste a trip only to be turned away at the gates due to the park being at capacity, or if you want to park hop but aren’t sure there is availability at other parks, Disney has a way for you to check before you go!
Guests visiting Disney World with the Park Hopper ticket option that allows them to visit other parks might want to call the number before hopping to ensure they’ll be able to get into the other park they’re trying to visit. The catch is that these parks CAN hit capacity, and if they do, you won’t be allowed inside.
We’ll be on the lookout for additional updates about the holidays at Disney World. In the meantime, make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news and more!

Thank you so much for everything you do! Where is it listed that the fireworks for new years eve eve at Magic Kingdom will be 7:30? We booked a Magic Kingdom Fireworks After party for 6:30 PM hoping those would be the Fantasy in the Sky fireworks.
Love all the videos. They have helped out a lot. Plus we got the books as well. Great stuff.
Question I have is when do they release special events for nye Epcot. For some reason we decided to this, I think it was a better choice to do WDW rather than NYC on NYE. Have any answers or adivce?
Thank you
Ty
