Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disney World is a Star Wars fan’s dream vacation. You get to dive into the galaxy and become immersed in the stories through shopping, dining, and rides.
One of the rides in this land is Rise of the Resistance. It’s quite possibly the BEST ride in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. It’s a trackless ride, which keeps you guessing on where you’re going next, and it’s jam-packed with action from beginning to end, including your time in the queue. But if you want to make it even BETTER, we recommend doing this one thing!
HEADS UP: Rise of the Resistance spoilers ahead! Turn back now if you don’t want to ruin the surprise.
Get the Best Seat
There truly are two different experiences on this ride completely based on the ride vehicle you end up in — the front or back vehicle. Trust us: you want to be the one in the front vehicle. The front vehicle will give you the BEST ride-through experience.
To better your chances at getting the front vehicle, you’ll need to be VERY brave. First, take a deep breath and build up your courage. Then, confront one of the evil First Order troops as you’re being placed into an interrogation room, and request the ride vehicle with the red and blue rows. This will get you into the front vehicle, and you’ll have an even more exciting ride.
The front vehicle will have a front-row experience for the entire ride. You’ll come face-to-face with the FIRST animatronic of the ride — the Probe Droid — while the back vehicle passes by it after the droid is lowered. Then, in the AT-AT room, the front car goes head-to-head with two stormtroopers inside the head of the AT-AT with a red digital haze.
The back car, however, looks at the side of the AT-AT instead of straight on and has a different experience all around in this room. Finally, the front car is WAY better because of the Kylo Ren experiences throughout the ride.
You’ll meet Kylo Ren twice in the ride, and during both encounters, the front car looks him right in the eye every time he talks. He gestures and turns in different directions, but he only speaks DIRECTLY to the front-car riders. (Talk about menacing!)
Don’t get us wrong, this experience is totally amazing regardless of which vehicle you end up in; it’s just BETTER in the blue and red car since the back car is following behind.

Now that you know that fun little secret, here are two other helpful tips for riding Rise of the Resistance in Disney World!
The Posted Wait Time Is Kinda Misleading
Rise of the Resistance is so great because of the detail Disney put into it. While the ride officially begins when you get in the vehicles in the interrogation chamber, it FEELS like it begins long before that.
This is a truly immersive experience, and that begins in the queue. As soon as you board the very first ship (technically part of the queue), shortly after joining the queue, you no longer feel like you’re just waiting to board a ride. You are part of the ride. So while the posted wait time might say one thing, it really feels like it’s at least 20 minutes shorter. That’s because the wait time is posted to the point of you boarding your ride vehicle, but it feels like you’re already on the ride 20 minutes before then.
As you go through the queue, you’ll be too busy joining the Resistance, getting captured by the First Order, and being interrogated to even realize you’ve just been waiting in the line the whole time.
Buying the Lightning Lane Single Pass Might Not Be Worth It
This ride costs extra if you wish to skip it using the Lightning Lane queue. It’s a Lightning Lane Single Pass and not part of the Lightning Lane Multi Pass. However, it might not be worth purchasing the Single Pass for it.
The line for this ride can definitely get long, but you may also notice several times throughout the day when it’s 60 minutes or less, and if you take off the 20 minutes from the point above, it’s truly not too terrible of a wait. Depending on your priorities (and if you’re a bit of a risk taker), purchasing a Single Pass for Rise of the Resistance might not be worth it.
We hope these tips help you have a great experience on the best ride in Hollywood Studios! In the meantime, keep following DFB for more Disney news.
