A stunning restaurant in Disney Springs just had its 10th anniversary celebration, and we can’t believe it’s been so long already.
Morimoto Asia welcomed guests to their 10th anniversary to try different types of foods, meet Chef Masaharu Morimoto, and see him break down a whole tuna (and it was HUGE!). Come with us to the celebration and try some of the spectacular foods.
We started off by watching Chef Morimoto break the lid on a sake barrel. This is only done for large celebrations, and the chef broke it open with a mallet. Then he, his brother, a few members of his team, and a few guests shared the sake together.
The sake was Morimoto’s own brand, Morimoto Sake, which was delicious. It was smooth on your tongue, and you could taste the flavor from the cedar box with each sip. Did we already book another reservation at the restaurant to try some more? Yep!
Chef Morimoto also broke down a bluefin tuna, which weighed over 200 pounds. To watch an Iron Chef at work was incredible. With the fresh tuna being cut right there, it was put on the Tuna “Nakaochi” Pizza with BBQ eel shell, red onion, cherry tomato, anchovy aioli, serrano pepper, micro cilantro, kalamata olives, and tabasco sauce.
You could taste how fresh it was (I mean, it was literally sliced right in front of you!), and there was a perfect amount of salt and different textures.
Morimoto Asia serves pan-Asian dishes, and for the 10th anniversary,it offered ten different food stations for guests to try. The Tuna “Nakachi” Pizza was one of them, but we also loved the Street Food Satays with shio-koji chicken, bulgogi beef, peanut sauce, and cilantro, which was so tender that it melted in your mouth.
The Peking Duck with cucumber, scallion, hoisin sauce, and apricot chili on a bao bun was also a favorite, with the doughy bun and the crispy skin on the duck. We wish we had grabbed a bunch to go!
If you’re ready to try some new dishes yourself, check out their Passport to Morimoto Asia program starting on October 1st. There’s a signature dish and cocktail for every month for a year, showcasing different pan-Asian countries. If you collect 12 stamps, you can attend an exclusive reception at Morimoto Asia hosted by Chef Morimoto, and if you get 24, you get a weekend getaway to Boston with a dinner, event invitation, and a complimentary hotel stay.
Here’s a look at the dishes you can try:
