We know Disney World was essentially made for families, but that doesn’t mean you have to be around kids during your entire vacation.
While a child-free Disney World trip seems like an oxymoron, it definitely happens more than you think. Disney Adults flock to the most popular theme park resort in the world from far and wide. Vacations, honeymoons, anniversaries, and more reasons compel plenty of adults to consider stays at Disney World. If you fall into this category and want to know some of the best hotels that cater more to adults, you’ve certainly come to the right place!
While you’ll never truly be able to avoid kids at Disney World hotels, some resorts offer a different experience that caters to a more mature clientele, while also typically lodging fewer children than other resorts.
Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort
Coronado Springs is one of the best picks for a child-free trip, if not THE best. This hotel is a convention hotel that holds a lot of business events. Because of this, it tends to be quieter and has a different vibe from other Disney hotels.
It’s not over-the-top in Disney theming — which will actually deter a lot of families. It’s also off the beaten path, not offering monorail or Skyliner services. The resort does have a lot of amenities that you would only find at Disney’s “Deluxe” hotels, despite being a “Moderate” hotel, however.
While families certainly might enjoy a stay here, it’s not the obvious first pick. Thanks to its great amenities, quiet vibes, and more adult-oriented approach, this is a fantastic spot for folks looking to get away from kids — as much as possible — during a Disney stay.
Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter
Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter is small and quieter than its Riverside counterpart. This quaint hotel offers a more intimate feel — something that can certainly be rare at Disney World.
Relaxing and charming while still offering unique theming, this hotel is a great option for an adults-only trip. It even offers boat service to and from Disney Springs, which has plenty of mature dining and shopping options in its own right.
Swan and Dolphin Hotels
The Swan and Dolphin aren’t owned by Disney, so you won’t find Disney theming here. As such, many families are immediately turned off at the prospect of a stay here.
It’s their mistake, though, as you’ll have the same amenities and perks as other Disney hotels — all for a cheaper rate. Not only that, the Swan and Dolphin hotels are incredibly close to EPCOT and are only a short walk away.
EPCOT Hotels
Speaking of EPCOT, there are three hotels nearby that find a place on our list: Disney’s BoardWalk Inn, Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, and Disney’s Beach Club Resort.
These three hotels are all within walking distance of EPCOT’s International Gateway into World Showcase, which is ideal during an EPCOT festival. They’re also fairly close to Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
These hotels are often a bit pricier (which will turn off big families) and offer plenty to do outside of the parks, such as lounges and elevated dining experiences.
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
Speaking of pricey, the Grand Floridian is certainly up there, and most families with kids are priced out.
This hotel has tons of dining options, including the Michelin Star-awarded Victoria & Albert’s — where the minimum age to dine here is 10 years old.
Linked up to Magic Kingdom and EPCOT via the monorail, the Grand Floridian is one of the most upscale hotels at Disney World while offering a great location and elegant feel.

What about the Riviera? My husband and I I are child free and dying to go there!
I vote for French Quarter for this category of hotels. Nice rooms. Nice pools. And the boat transportation is great for us over 50 group .
