Spirit Airlines recently filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, and now, United Airlines is adding new flights in light of the news. This winter, United Airlines will offer additional flights out of Orlando, including round-trip flights to Orlando Airport.

United Airlines is adding 15 flights to its winter schedule, according to Orlando Business Journal. Here’s what we know about the move.
Beginning January 6th, travelers will have new options when flying to Orlando. United Airlines will offer new daily round-trip flights from Orlando International Airport to Houston, Chicago, and Newark. These flights will begin January 6th, 2026.

This news comes shortly after Spirit Airlines announced it would be cutting more routes to popular cities, according to CBS News. Spirit will cut routes to and from the following cities as of October 2nd:
- Albuquerque, NM
- Birmingham, AL
- Boise, ID
- Chattanooga, TN
- Oakland, CA
- Columbia, SC
- Portland, OR
- Sacramento, CA
- Salt Lake City, UT
- San Diego, CA
- San Jose, CA
Spirit served over 7 million passengers at Orlando International Airport in 2024, per the Orlando Business Journal, and was the second-busiest carrier in the area. In a recent message, Spirit said it plans to reduce its presence in certain areas to put an emphasis on key markets.

Thanks to the 15 new flights being added to United’s lineup, there will soon be 45 flights per day to Orlando.
