There might be nothing more magical than sitting down and having dinner when your favorite princess greets you at the table and chats with you for a minute. You get to eat some great food, all while meeting different characters without ever leaving your table.
We love character dining at Disney World, but one of our favorite restaurants is having some scheduling issues right now that you should know about if you’re planning to visit next month.
Story Book Dining at Artist Point, located at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, isn’t showing any reservations past October 5th. While all of the dates could be booked out, we find that unlikely, and this might be hinting towards downtime.
Some of our readers have brought this up to our attention, and when we went to check it ourselves, we weren’t able to book past October 5th. We spoke with a Cast Member who mentioned that the dates might have filled up, so we should keep checking back and try same-day reservations.
This could also have been a glitch in the reservation system, as restaurant hours are still posted for those dates. When Disney starts hinting at a closure, temporary or permanent, they usually adjust the times to reflect the changes.
If Story Book Dining is on your “must do” list, we highly recommend continuing to check for reservations since the system could open more. You can also try same-day reservations, but it might be helpful to have a backup plan in case it is going under a refurbishment. Closer to October 5th, we should hopefully have more answers.
This restaurant is one of our top character dining spots at Disney World. You get to meet Snow White, Dopey, Grumpy, and the Evil Queen. We find this restaurant is usually a bit calmer than other popular spots like Cinderella’s Royal Table and Chef Mickey’s.
REVIEW: IS STORY BOOK DINING THE BEST CHARACTER MEAL IN DISNEY WORLD?
The whole space is a little darker (but not too dark that you can’t see your food) and lit up with a gorgeous tree with twinkling lights. They offer a prix fixe menu that always has us coming back for more. It can be hard to find a character dining restaurant that offers great food along with a fantastic character experience, but Story Book Dining is usually near the top of our list for it.
As of September 11th, it looks like the reservation problem has been fixed! You’re currently able to book through November 10th, with every day having some reservations open. If you were previously trying to book but were running into this issue like us, don’t forget to grab your reservation now.

I have a reservation with my wife and granddaughter Saturday November 8.
This is my favorite character dining experience at Disney World! We have done many and Tusker House is our second fav. I think we were lucky and had a table smack in the middle of the dining room, which really enhanced our experience. Dopey and Grumpy both spent a lot of time at our table! 🙂 And they are our two favorite dwarfs! The Evil Queen was A-Mazing! This is a don’t miss experience, but one of the more expensive character dining meals, so maybe a once in a lifetime treat.
They released a ton yesterday. Looks like they maybe just weren’t released on time. I was able to get for Nov 7, and there were tons available through Oct and Nov now.
This is a great meal and a great character meet and greet. We had such fun! The characters spend a lot of time with you, as well as doing fun things throughout the restaurant. Due to timing, we were basically able to hang out with the Evil Queen to our heart’s content! We felt a little bad when we left, it seemed like she was going to be bored for a bit.
Must be glitchy off and on because my 60 day window was earlier this week and they didn’t have anything open past 11/10. I got every reservation I wanted except that one, but I kept checking back every day and it finally opened the week of 11/15 yesterday so I was able to snag a great slot.
