We’ve been known to host a pity party, a sobfest, or a complete crashout a time or two in Disney World.
When things aren’t going your way and the entire world seems to be against you (Disney World, that is) on vacation, it’s inevitable that there will be some tears amongst your travel party. And if you just seriously need a place to cry it out, we’ve got you. We’ve made this list for Magic Kingdom and EPCOT, but now we present to you the best places to cry in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Star Wars Launch Bay
Kicking off the list, we’ve got to mention Star Wars Launch Bay, which is sadly closing for good on September 25th, 2025. Until then, you’ll be able to enter this exhibit/character meet area, where it’s dark, it’s air-conditioned, and benches abound. Sounds like a great place to explore your feelings.
It’s pretty easy to find a quiet bench tucked away in a corner where you can let out a few sobs and do so in relative privacy. The climate-controlled atmosphere doesn’t hurt, either.
Tower of Terror
What better place to cry than somewhere that’s already a little bit spooky? Tower of Terror is a great spot to host your next sobfest because there are plenty of places to sit near the ride’s exit, and it’s already fairly somber and gloomy back there.
And if you’re a weenie about drop towers like I am? Well, then you might just be crying ON the ride as well. We’ve definitely witnessed that a time or two (or 20).
Toy Story Mania Exit
Another great secluded spot to have yourself a good cry is at the exit of Toy Story Mania. If you’ve ridden this attraction since Toy Story Land opened, then you know that the exit queue is LENGTHY, but thankfully, it’s lined with benches and shade.
And in general, we’ve found that the people getting off the ride will mostly ignore you if you’re sitting on a bench in the exit area. There’s a little bit of anonymity in a crowd, after all. Let it all out, guys.
The Hollywood Brown Derby
Probably the best place to cry in style is at the Hollywood Brown Derby! This upscale sit-down restaurant has a delicious menu, a wide variety of beverages, and cozy seating. If you end up in a corner booth, you’ll even have some relative privacy.
Honestly, crying over a Cobb Salad doesn’t sound so bad, especially if we order dessert afterwards. Good food can cure many sorrows.
In Front of the Former Muppets Courtyard
Perhaps the most likely place you’ll be crying — if you’re a Disney Adult — is in front of the former Muppets Courtyard. WHY oh why did they have to get rid of our beloved Muppet*Vision 3D?!
Don’t worry, you’ll definitely be in good company crying over here, since quite a few Muppets fans are sad to see this area go. But while you stand there, maybe you can keep an eye on the construction for the new Monsters, Inc.-themed land.
The Slinky Dog Dash Queue
Last but not least, we know we’ve shed some tears in the Slinky Dog Dash queue before, ESPECIALLY when we were stuck in it for 2+ hours. This queue is cute, but dang is it hot, cramped, and uncomfortable! Certainly not a ride you want to be waiting for in the middle of a summer day. And don’t even get us started on the tears that’ll fall when you inevitably get told the ride is shutting down for weather issues…after you’ve already clocked 90 minutes in line.
That’s our full list — now, whatever you do, DO NOT cry while sharing a table with strangers at Oga’s Cantina. Let’s not make things awkward, people.
