Disney Cruise Line is getting bigger all the time, and it seems like Disney has been announcing a lot of new ships recently.
However, we’re really excited about the next ship to set sail in the Disney fleet, the Disney Destiny, which will make its maiden voyage on November 20th (which is coming up SOON). Now this ship, which is themed around heroes and villains, has reached a major milestone — the Disney Destiny has officially left the shipyard and floated out to the harbor.
Float out is one of the biggest milestones in the construction of a ship, as well as a maritime tradition. It basically means that the ship is a step closer to setting sail for the very first time. And now the Disney Destiny has floated out into the harbor from the Meyer Werft Shipyard in Papenburg, Germany.
Hero Minnie was on hand to lead the ship, which has a stern featuring Spider-Man and his Spider Bots. This is the first time a Marvel character has ever been on the stern of a Disney Cruise ship, so that’s SUPER exciting.
The Disney Destiny will also feature a few other firsts. The very first The Lion King theatrical dining experience, Pride Lands: Feast of The Lion King, will be on board. A new Pirates of the Caribbean-inspired lounge, Cask and Cannon, will also be onboard. Cruella de Vil will get her very own piano bar, De Vil’s Piano Lounge. The first-ever Doctor Strange-themed lounge, the Sanctum, will be devoted to the mystical arts.
The ship will also feature a brand new show exclusive to the ship, Disney Hercules — The Heroic New Musical. Two fan-favorite shows will also be available onboard: Frozen, A Musical Spectacular, and Disney Seas the Adventure.
We’ll be keeping an eye out for more Disney Destiny updates, so stay tuned to DFB for more.
