One of the BEST Free Disney Perks Will Disappear When This Ride Permanently Closes

At Disneyland Resort, there are so many unique opportunities and attractions to experience, it’s sometimes hard to fit everything into one trip.

However, sometimes attractions have to be retired to make way for new experiences, and that’s what’s going to happen with Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue! in Disney California Adventure. It’ll be closing in early 2026 to make way for the new Avatar land, but that means a super unique opportunity is also going away — so here’s how you can be Screamer of the Day before the ride closes!

To be Screamer of the Day, you’ve got to get to Hollywood Backlot as soon as you possibly can — even before the ride opens! This is key because being one of the first people there significantly increases your chances of a magical moment.

Get there early!

We were all decked out in our Monsters, Inc. gear in hopes we’d get picked, but we’ll be the first to admit that younger kiddos are more likely to get selected as Screamer of the Day. In fact, we tried this experiment twice, and didn’t get picked the first time because it went to a young fan, which was adorable to see!

It’s highly sought after!

So, what do you get if you’re chosen as Screamer of the Day? Well, you first get to sign your name in the book, which is full of all the past Screamers of the day!

You also get to be the very FIRST person on the attraction that day! You’ll be walked by Cast Members through the queue and get to be the first person (along with your party, if you’re with a group) to ride. You’ll also get a Lightning Lane (okay, the real ones are calling it a FastPass) to access the ride later that day. Monsters, Inc. fans need to add this to their bucket list.
