Disney and actress Gina Carano have come to an agreement regarding their legal dispute.
The actress filed a lawsuit that was funded by Elon Musk against The Walt Disney Company after she was fired in 2021 from the Disney+ series, The Mandalorian. Disney claimed that the actress was fired after she made the decision to “trivialize the Holocaust” due to certain comments made by the actress. Carano stated that she had been unfairly targeted and bullied by the company, and since then, there has been a lot of back and forth with the legal dispute. Now that dispute seems to be over.
Disney moved to have the lawsuit dismissed in April 2024, “on the grounds that Disney has a constitutional right not to associate its artistic expression with Carano’s speech, such that the First Amendment provides a complete defense to Carano’s claims.” The actress clapped back, though a month later, stating that the company did not have “carte blanche authority.”
Now, over a year later, Variety reports that Disney and Carano have settled their dispute. Lucasfilm made the following statement: “The Walt Disney Company and Lucasfilm are pleased to announce that we have reached an agreement with Gina Carano to resolve the issues in her pending lawsuit against the companies. Ms. Carano was always well respected by her directors, co-stars, and staff, and she worked hard to perfect her craft while treating her colleagues with kindness and respect. With this lawsuit concluded, we look forward to identifying opportunities to work together with Ms. Carano in the near future.”
After Carano’s firing, she was also dropped as a client by United Talent Agency as a client. She filed her lawsuit in 2024, claiming wrongful termination and discrimination, with a demand that she should be recast in The Mandalorian and awarded $75,000 in damages.

I hope her settlement was a decent amount to live off of, because her acting career is over.
