The return of an old favorite has led to a new rope drop rule at EPCOT.
In July of 2025, EPCOT’s Test Track reopened after a refurbishment that lasted over a year. The new version of the attraction, dubbed Test Track 3.0 by fans – a nod to the original late 1990s original and the 2010s refurbished version of the attraction that preceded it – the “new” Test Track has six new “scenes” celebrating vehicles and their makers.
The new iteration of Test Track has met with rave reviews from many Disney fans thanks to its retro-EPCOT elements, including references to both Horizons and the ride that preceded Test Track in the Transportation Pavilion, World of Motion. That positive reaction has in turn, led to a jump in popularity for the new version of the attraction.
Wait times for Test Track have been some of the highest in the park since the ride reopened, usually averaging over an hour. Meaning that, if you want to ride the ride using the standby line option, you may want to head to its World Discovery location immediately at rope drop.
Meanwhile, if you’re not planning on ride Test Track, that may give you an advantage in rope-dropping other popular attractions like Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, as the number of guests heading straight to those popular attractions has thinned out slightly.
Beyond its standby line, Test Track also reopened as a Tier 1 Lightning Lane, the highest level of Multi Pass, which allows purchasers to pre-select one attraction. Given the popularity of the new Test Track, this may make it easier for guests to score earlier Lightning Lanes for other Tier 1 attractions Frozen: Ever After and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure.
The newly reopened Test Track is quite popular so far, and is changing the way rope drop works at EPCOT. Stay tuned to DFB for more on the resort’s evolution.
