Disney World is, apparently, in its construction era. In Magic Kingdom, one ride is currently closed for a big refurbishment, while another one will close soon for its own update while a new expansion AND a new land are being built. In Disney’s Animal Kingdom, a whole new land is being constructed. In Disney’s Hollywood Studios, an entire part of the park is being reimagined while a new land is also under construction.
That construction also extends to Disney World hotels, including one of its most popular resorts. Disney’s Pop Century Resort is getting its rooms refurbished, but Disney also recently announced that the hotel is getting some work done on its lobby!
The Disney World website indicates that from July 28th through October, the lobby at Disney’s Pop Century “will be getting a retro-inspired refresh.” The lobby will remain open during this time, although you may see and hear construction. All hotel amenities will also be available.
We wonder if this retro-inspired update will match what we’ve already seen with Disney’s recent update of the hotel’s food court, Everything POP! We love the vibrant vintage-y colors, and it only makes sense that the lobby might also end up reflecting a similar look and feel.
The rooms at Pop Century are also undergoing some updates: that work started in March and won’t be completed until February 2026. We’re not sure what plans Disney has for the rooms, as they currently look the same as all the other value resorts, but we’d love to see this whole super colorful retro theme in the rooms, too.
We’ll keep an eye out for more updates, so stay tuned to DFB for more.

Aw, I always loved Pop Century’s lobby, and thought it was very vintage/retro, although I think that some of the cool things that I loved seeing there were removed a while back anyway. The new dining area looks cool too, especially the new soft seating (I hope it isn’t ruined too fast) and the Mickey/TV wall. I’m sure the lobby will be aligned with the new look at very cool in its own right.
Removing the memoribilia in the shadow box display cases would guarantee a bland lobby ! While updating photos behind the front desk would be a welcome upgrade.
If they scrap the timeline display and replace it with Disney Only IP, it will kill the nostalgia vibe and really, seriously, cheapen the experience for good.
No one pays licensing fee at flea markets or antique stores, so for goodness sake don’t “ruin” this resort too !
