Okay, so we’d like to think we’re connoisseurs of cake in Disney World because we’ve eaten a LOT of cake throughout the entire resort.
We’ve had all kinds of cake, too, from that Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake at Liberty Tree Tavern to super fancy and pricey cakes at The Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers to the double-frosted cakes at Gideon’s Bakehouse. So it’s a good thing we love cake. Well, we just found out that a NEW cake slice has arrived at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, and well, we had to try it out for ourselves. Because, well, again, CAKE.
You’ll find the new Rapunzel Berries and Cream Cake at Landscape of Flavors at Art of Animation. This cake is a Vanilla Cake with Lemon Cheesecake Mousse and Blackberry Jam for $6.49. First, you’re just going to have to take a moment to look at it because it is BEAUTIFUL. All those pretty colors (and a melted chocolate medallion which is ALWAYS going to melt in the heat…Disney, and you think you’d know better). But we love that it has some pretty icing that looks like Rapunzel’s long braid.
The cake itself tastes like it came from a box, but just so you know, we like boxed cake — it’s pretty tasty. It’s light, fluffy, and moist. This cake, though, was not super dense, so it was more airy, which was nice. It also had that lemon cheesecake mousse piped into it with a light lemon flavor that complemented the sweet and fruity flavors of the blackberry jam. This is a flavor combo we can get behind!
Rapunzel’s braid tasted like vanilla buttercream, and there wasn’t so much that it overpowered the rest of the cake. Overall, this cake would win over even the brauniest ruffian at The Snuggly Duckling, and we think Rapunzel herself would like it, too.
