Three theme parks have just made unexpected cancellations to their holiday plans for this year.

Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey, Six Flags Over Georgia, and Michigan’s Adventure announced schedule changes for their holiday season this year. These changes include cancelations to both Halloween and Christmas plans — let’s take a look!
Starting with Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey, they confirmed that the Holiday in the Park event will not be returning in 2025, according to NJ Advance Media. This is a little surprising considering the attraction has been going on for nine years. It saw the park transform into a winter wonderland that lasted from November through January.

Then there is Six Flags Over Georgia, which confirmed it will not be hosting its Holiday in the Park celebration this year as well. In fact, the park will be closing for the season, according to Fox 5 Atlanta! The closure will begin on November 30th. Their Christmas overlay also saw them transform their park into a winter wonderland.

To add on top of those two, another cancellation was made at a park operated under the same company. Michigan’s Adventure amusement park has officially cancelled its fall season, according to the Detroit Free Press. This cancellation in the fall will include the park’s Halloween event. The event is called the Tricks and Treats Fall Fest, which first entered the park in 2023. Its time did not last long as it will not be returning in 2025. We’re not sure if that is a permanent decision, so we’ll see if more news drops on that. The park will be closing for the fall season, and this closure will start on September 1st.

It’s been a season of shutdown for Six Flags this year, as recently Six Flags announced that it will be permanently closing two of its U.S. parks at the end of 2025. The two that will be closing their doors are Six Flags America and Hurricane Harbor in Bowie, Maryland. The park’s last day of operation is November 2nd, 2025.
