Your Disney World shoes matter more than your park bag. I said what I said.

Cinderella Castle
You can bring all the snacks, ponchos, battery packs, and MagicBands you want, but none of it will save you if your feet tap out before lunchtime. After one too many park days where we learned this the hard way, we FINALLY put two of the most hyped comfort shoes to the test: the HOKA Clifton 10s and the Brooks Ghost 17s. We wore them through long lines, never-ending walkways, parade crowds, and all the unpredictable chaos a Disney day likes to throw at you. And by the end, one pair clearly earned the title of the most comfortable shoes for Disney World, and we have thoughts.
If you’ve ever spent a day at Disney World, you already know the real villain isn’t the Florida heat or the long lines — it’s the wrong pair of shoes. A day that starts with rope drop energy can quickly end in regret. So after years of trial-and-error and more miles logged than we care to admit, we set out to find the shoes that can survive even the busiest park days. Two pairs consistently stood out: the HOKA Clifton 10s and the Brooks Ghost 17s. After wearing both around the parks, we finally have a clear answer for which one deserves the title of the most comfortable shoe at Disney World.

Magic Kingdom
Let’s start with the HOKAs, because these shoes shocked us. We didn’t expect to fall in love (especially if you’re concerned about your shoes’ weight, texture, or bulky feel), and yet we did!
The Clifton 10s are worth every penny. They’re bouncy without feeling unstable, and they offer incredible heel and arch support. If you have high arches, this is the kind of shoe that feels designed specifically for your feet. In fact, the back of the shoe even felt smooth and comfortable from day one, and we never experienced any rubbing or blistering.
The experience of walking in these is almost cloud-like, but not in the ridiculous “I might jump into orbit with every step” way. It’s a gentle, springy cushioning that absorbs impact and supports your stride without demanding attention. We loved how they fit around the foot, which felt more like a cradle than a standard sneaker, and even though they look bigger because of their thick soles, they don’t feel heavy or bulky when worn.
The vertical cushioning gives them height without width, so they still feel sleek on your feet. The biggest surprise for us, though, is that we didn’t mind the bulkier sole. The cushioning feels luxurious without weighing you down, and even after miles of walking, the shoe stays firm and supportive rather than sinking or flattening out.
Honestly, the only thing we’d change about the HOKAs is the price, because they are undeniably expensive. But they absolutely perform at the level their price suggests. They made our Disney trips easier, and we’ve started rotating them into our everyday wear simply because our feet like them so much.
They’re built for long-term use, and even after breaking them in, they look and feel brand new. If you’re a flip-flop loyalist, sneaker skeptic, or someone who just never feels fully comfortable in shoes, these might be the pair that finally converts you.
Now, let’s talk about the Brooks Ghost 17s, a shoe that gets recommended constantly in running circles but also happens to be a fantastic option for theme parks. These are marketed primarily for runners, but honestly, they’re an excellent fit for anyone who wants a reliable, well-cushioned shoe for long days on their feet. Like the HOKAs, they aren’t cheap — but Brooks delivers on their promises.
One huge perk is the 90-day test run policy: if you order directly from Brooks and don’t love them, you can send them back. That kind of confidence says a lot about the brand’s reputation and consistency.
The Ghost 17s have a distinctly different feel from the Clifton 10s. While the HOKAs feel soft and airy, the Brooks feel structured and smooth. There’s a blend of softness and firmness in the midsole that gives each step a rolling, gliding sensation.
They feature nitrogen-infused cushioning in both the heel and forefoot, which adds bounce without making the shoe feel unstable. The air mesh upper is extremely breathable (a very welcome feature in Florida weather), and the redesigned kickback collar offers heel support without the friction that some runner-style shoes can cause.
At first, the Brooks felt a little heavier than the HOKAs, which makes sense because they have more internal structure. But after walking in them for a bit, they began to mold around our feet in a way that felt increasingly supportive.
The toe box hugs without squeezing, and the interior cushioning provides a secure, enveloped feel. This is both a pro and a con: if you like feeling locked into your shoes, you’ll love it, but if you prefer a looser fit, you might consider sizing up half a size. Until they’re broken in, they may feel a little tight — not painfully so, just noticeably snug. But once that adjustment passes, the Ghost 17s are extremely comfortable and capable of handling long days with ease.
What we appreciate most about the Brooks is how they distribute impact. Instead of feeling the jolt of every footfall, the cushioning redirects force into a smoother motion, giving the impression that you’re gliding rather than stomping. It’s one of the biggest reasons they’re so effective for theme parks. Walking 20,000+ steps a day can take a toll on your joints, and these shoes help reduce that wear and tear substantially. They’re dependable, well-designed, and ideal for anyone who needs a shoe that can keep up with long days and lots of movement. If you’re someone who doesn’t naturally enjoy wearing sneakers, the fact that our flip-flop-loving reporter would willingly buy these again says everything.
When comparing the two, it’s clear that both are excellent choices, but they shine in different ways. HOKA Clifton 10s feel plush, lightweight, and instantly comfortable. They’re perfect for people who want cushioning, softness, and a shoe that moves with their foot rather than controlling it. Brooks Ghost 17s feel more traditional in design but elevated in execution. They offer structure, breathability, and a gliding step that runners and walkers both appreciate. Both shoes absolutely work for Disney World, but for our tests, the HOKAs take a very slight lead.
The main difference comes down to feel. HOKAs are soft; Brooks are smooth. HOKAs cradle; Brooks support. HOKAs feel like walking on gentle springs; Brooks feel like walking on a rolling cushion of stability. There’s no wrong answer — and truly, they are the top two shoes we would recommend above any others — but the HOKA Clifton 10s offered the best all-day comfort with the least break-in and the most immediate relief.
At the end of the day, choosing your park shoe depends on your personal preferences. If you hate heavy sneakers, value plush cushioning, or need arch support, HOKA is your best match. If you prefer a snugger fit, want tons of breathability, or like having more structure in your step, Brooks is the way to go. Both will absolutely protect your feet throughout your Disney World vacation — and both live up to their hype.
But if you’re asking which one we’d crown as the single most comfortable shoe for Disney World? The HOKA Clifton 10s take the win. While the Brooks Ghost 17s come in a very close second — so don’t count them out, either!

Thanks for this review. I wear Brooks and love them. What I can’t get past on the Hokas is how ugly they are, plus more expensive.
Gotta take an opposing opinion. We had 11 days in the Bubble in November, with 7 park days. I logged 100 miles walking. In Vibram 5-Fingers. At least for me, they’re more comfortable than conventional tennis shoes or their ilk.
Hysterical because I alternate between Brooks (adrenaline) and the Hoka (Clifton). I love both shoes. Originally, I didn’t like Hoka because of the design but they’ve grown on me.
HOKA Clifton 10 for the win with me! Last week, on our first park day we had 26,517 steps! My feet were tired of course but not hurting! They were wonderful! The 2nd park day was over 22k steps and my feet still did great! Highly recommend!!
