OK. We’ll say it: we hate the sight of scaffolding, construction walls, and hard hats at Disney World. Yes, we know that the end result is worth the temporary eyesore, but nothing wrecks a view quite like a big old crane, right? Who remembers when Cinderella Castle looked like THIS back in 2020?

Cinderella Castle Construction from 2020
Now, there are two things you should know about me. 1.) I know more about Disney World than the average person, including a weird knowledge of Disney construction projects and permit schedules. 2.) I often wish Disney World projects had a more… expedited timeline. Things tend to take a long time. In fact, we just checked in at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort, and if you didn’t know, that resort is under construction. How’s it lookin’ over there? I’m so glad you asked!
Way back in August of 2024, Disney announced that the Wilderness Lodge and Copper Creek Villas would undergo exterior refurbishment work. Then, starting in mid-May 2025 and continuing through September 2025, Copper Creek Villas & Cabins were set to undergo guest room refurbishments. Translation: there’s a whole lot of construction around the resort.

The good news is that all resort amenities remain available, but you “may see and hear construction work during daytime hours,” per Disney. During our recent visit, we spotted active construction work around the resort.

There’s a lot of scaffolding outside!
We noticed scaffolding on the backside of the hotel building with construction workers tackling room refurbishments during daytime hours. Despite all the work around the resort, the noise level was pretty low.

It’s coming along!
A Cast Member confirmed that all roofwork is complete, and crews are currently working on the first three floors of the building. We don’t have an official end date for the construction, but a Cast Member stated it “shouldn’t be too much longer” now that the final few floors are under construction. Fingers crossed!

We’re ready for this to be DONE!
The bad news is that not all the pathways are available right now. Over near Artist Point, a walkway is blocked due to construction.

Some areas are closed
We’ll keep our eyes out for further developments, but for now, it seems like there’s still a whole lot of scaffolding around the resort. If you’re planning a stay at the Wilderness Lodge, keep in mind that the resort might not be as tranquil and idyllic as usual.

BEWARE the construction!
