Disney offers a wide variety of dining options across the property’s hotels. However, in the many years I’ve been visiting Disney World, I’ve come across several that leave something to be desired.
From quick service poolside locations to a sit-down restaurant, each of these Disney World establishments needs some TLC to reach the bar set by many of the resort’s other hotel dining offerings.
Value Resort Pool Bars
Each of Disney’s Value Tier resorts – The All-Star Sports, All-Star Music, All-Star Movies, Pop Century, and Art of Animation – feature bars near their main feature pools – Grandstand Sports Pool Bar, Singing Spirits Pool Bar, Silver Screen Spirits Pool Bar, Petals Pool Bar, and The Drop Off Pool Bar, respectively. While these locations each feature a stocked selection of libations, their food options leave a lot to be desired.
Four of the five offer little more than basic sandwiches or salads, while the Art of Animation’s Drop Off Pool Bard extends things with pizza, chicken strips, and hot dog options. Why not some more varied food options instead? Each of the value resorts feature over-the-top themed decorations, how about some themed foods? Pizza that looks like a baseball, etc.
El Mercado de Coronado
You’d be forgiven if you thought that the El Mercado de Coronado food court area at Coronado Springs was home to some of the best Spanish food on Disney World property. Unfortunately, that’s not the case when it comes to lunch and dinner.
Outside of some bowl options, and two “Tex Mex” dishes, the area’s main offerings are “typical” theme park fare, including burgers, chicken tenders, pizza, and fries. While we understand the need for these staples, we’d love to see a few more unique Spanish dishes available
Turf Club
Finally, there’s the Turf Club at the Saratoga Springs Resort. While Disney says this bar & grill features “a racetrack clubhouse setting with gorgeous golf course and lake views,” the reality is that its decor is very tired. In addition, the menu has been changed several times in quick succession, with little cohesion nor any real standout dishes.
Changing up the offerings at these Disney restaurants could definitely improve the experience for guests of these respective hotels. Stay tuned to DFB for more on Disney’s restaurants.
