Driving to Disney World just got MORE expensive!

Disney World entrance
We’re constantly keeping up with the latest travel trends and the best ways for you to reach your upcoming vacation in Orlando. If you’re planning on driving to Disney World soon, you could be paying MORE for the same trip you’d already budgeted for thanks to changes that go into effect on July 1st!
In an article by Orlando local news WESH 2, Orlando drivers will be paying more to get around the city’s roads. Following an assessment performed by the Central Florida Expressway Authority (CFX) has decided to adjust the tolls to keep up with rising costs. As a result of their findings, beginning July 1st, the prices for CFX-operated roadways with tolls will increase between $0.02 and $0.05, and each road’s new pricing will be reflected on the digital toll displays.

How does this factor into your next vacation? Well, The Central Florida Expressway Authority operates a total of 125 miles of roads within Central Florida including SR-408 (East-West Expressway), SR-414 (Apopka Expressway), SR-417 (Central Florida Greenway), SR-429 (Western Beltway), SR-451, SR-453, SR-538 (Poinciana Parkway), and parts of SR-528 (the Beachline Expressway) some of which might sound familiar to your route as you’re entering into Orlando for your Disney World trip. WESH has also reported that since CFX does not receive state or local tax funding, these increased toll prices will offset the cost of the company’s 5-year work plan. This recently approved plan includes improvements to the toll roadways, such as System Expansion Projects (making up the majority of this budget), Existing System Improvement Projects, and Interchange Projects.

However, if you’re worried about the increase in tolls for roads frequented by subsequent trips, or as an Orlando local, you’re not without options to save. CFX has a volume toll discount program for drivers who use E-Pass to pay for their tolls, which could help you save up to 25% on your toll balance. E-Pass customers who accumulate 40 and 79 transactions per month can save 20% while other E-Pass customers who accumulate more than 80 transactions per month can save 25%. The full terms and conditions on how to take advantage of the extra savings and be sure you’re enrolled can be found on the CFX website.
