Flavors of Florida has kicked off in Disney Springs at Disney World, and we are ready to eat all the, well, flavors the state of Florida is known for in 2025.
We previously got a sneak peek at some of the food this year’s event would bring, plus we recently got to check out a culinary demonstration AND eat our way around some of the special Flavors of Florida food and drinks at the Disney Springs quick service restaurants, but now we’re checking out an exclusive Pairing Event for Flavors of Florida.
So the pairing event is a 2-stop tour of locally-inspired food and drinks that starts at Enzo’s Hideaway and Tunnel Bar and ends at Morimoto Asia.
We started our adventure at Enzo’s Hideaway with some liqueurs by J.F. Haden’s, a Florida-owned business. We started with drinks with J.F. Haden’s espresso liqueur, and it tastes exactly like straight espresso. You don’t even need to mix it up with anything.
The J.F. Haden’s Key Lime Pie Liqueur was next. Y’all, it even smells like a key lime pie, including that graham cracker essence. It’s DELICIOUS. Bonus? You can buy these liqueurs to take home if you want. This might be one of our favorite things we had to drink at this event.
We then had a sweet treat, the Classic Cannoli. We’ve had this before, and it’s really a nice cannoli that has a fun cream-filled flavor and chocolate chips. It’s called “classic” for a reason. There’s nothing distinctly Florida about it, but we’ll never turn down a sweet treat.
Okay, back to the booze. The Everglader is a drink that remimagines a 1920s cocktail. It’s made with New World Gin from St. Augustine distillery, as well as Florida orange liqueur, pineapple juice, orange juice, and absinthe spirits. You can get it for $18 a glass at The Edison. The drink was great. It was very gin-forward, and it’s got a subtle sweet citrus flavor.
Y’all…then Enzo’s hit us with a bourbon flight. SAY WHAT? So we got to try the bourbons from St. Augustine Distillery, including the Florida Straight Bourbon, the Toasted Finish Bourbon, and the Port Finished Bourbon. The Florida Straight has a very old-fashioned flavor. We really liked the Toasted Finish because it had a S’mores marshmallow finish to it. That Port Finished Bourbon, though? It’s 102 proof, and it was POTENT. It’s smooth at first, and then it has a bite at the end.
We also tried the Fra Diavola Pizza from Pizza Ponte. It’s made with spicy salame calabrese, Orlando petal honey, chili, and pecorino romano. It’s like a hot honey pizza with pepperoni because it has a fiery kick, but it’s a low heat, and we appreciated that.
The Hot Honey High Voltage Chicken Sandwich is from The Edison — and y’all, it blew us away. It’s made with native datil pepper–infused Orlando petal honey, buttermilk fried chicken, hatch pepper gouda, arugula, tomato, and a brioche bun. That natural hot honey is just so good.
We also tried a beer that’s available seasonally at Enzo’s Hideaway, Hidden Springs Orange Crush. It’s nice and light with some honey notes to it. It does have a full orange flavor, and it’s almost as if it wants to be a cider, but with just a little extra oomph. It comes in a can, but when poured into a glass, it has a nice foam on top of it.
We also had Southeastern Sangria from a local winery. It was a little tart, which was a nice treat. It’s not very strong, and it sneaks up on you in a subtle way, like you would expect from a sangria.
We loved the Bruschetta Calabrese, which is available at Enzo’s Hideaway. It’s grilled ciabatta topped with ‘nduja and Florida-sourced fioretta stracciatella, petal honey, and micro arugula. Everyone was raving about this. It’s nice and creamy with that touch of sweetness from the honey. The greens on top were also really nice.
After all that food, we got Munyon’s Paw-Paw Florida Liqueur, which you’ll find in some Flavors of Florida cocktails. Interestingly enough, this drink was originally created as a cure-all, but it’s been refined since then. It’s a nice palette cleanser with a subtle orange note at the front. It also smells citrusy.
Then we headed over to Morimoto Asia, where we dove into Florida Orange Sweet and Sour Grouper. This is Flash-fried grouper with onion, bell pepper, and Florida orange, served with a sweet and sour orange sauce. Uh-mazing, y’all. It was like a sweet and sour stir fry, and this could be our favorite fish option we’ve had so far with Flavors of Florida. The flavors are vibrant and lively with nice citrus notes. The sweet and sour orange sauce? Just pour it into a cup for us so we can drink it straight. This dish is $38, though, so it’s pricey.
Morimoto Asia also has the Sparkling Shiso Orange Mocktail. After all that booze, we were kind of grateful for something non-alcoholic! It’s made with House-made shiso orange shrub, yuzu, and sparkling green tea for $9. It has a bit of a bubbly element, which is nice. It’s very citrusy and tart, so your taste buds will wake up. So if bubbly citrus drinks are your thing, you might love this.
So the ticket to this event was $107, and we think it was very worth it. It was a great way to sample many of the Flavors of Florida options in one place (well, two places) and included around 10 alcoholic drinks, a mocktail, and several light bites. We also got to chat with representatives from some of the brands to learn more about them. If you found something you liked, you could go back for more, too, although we wouldn’t recommend that so much with all the liquor (it’s a lot and those were some STRONG beverages).
