We’ve got big news out of EPCOT, and we have a feeling a lot of you won’t exactly be happy about it.
Test Track is getting ready to reopen VERY SOON, but we just found out that ANOTHER ride change will be coming to EPCOT at the end of the summer. If you’re a big fan of Spaceship Earth, you need to know that it’s temporarily closing at the end of summer.
Disney just announced that Spaceship Earth will temporarily close for refurbishment beginning on August 25th. At this time, there’s no specific reopening date, but we know it is expected to reopen “later in the year.” We’re certainly hoping it won’t be too long — BIG Spaceship Earth fans over here.

EPCOT
This isn’t the only closure happening in the resort around this time. Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin in Magic Kingdom will also close on August 4th and won’t reopen until 2026 due to the extensive refurbishment it’s undergoing. This ride is about to be MAJORLY UPGRADED. Stay tuned for more details!
Additionally, when this Spaceship Earth closure begins, construction will likely begin on the new Piston Peak land in Magic Kingdom (meaning the Liberty Square Riverboat and Tom Sawyer Island will be CLOSED), construction will continue on the Villains Land also coming to Magic Kingdom, DinoLand continues to become the new Pueblo Esperanza land, and Muppets Courtyard is behind walls to become the new Monsters, Inc. Land. Phew! That’s a lot of CHANGE, right?!
Other than the Spaceship Earth closure, there’s no other construction scheduled to happen in EPCOT at this time, which is a relief! It’ll be the only park that doesn’t have tons of construction walls around the park, but we’re always on the lookout for more projects and announcements.

CONFIRMED: Disney Announces Full Schedule for Destination D23 Event
Disney confirmed that there will be panels about Disney attractions, entertainment, and experiences (including some details about Disney’s cruise ships), so it’s safe to say that at least one of the upcoming presentations will cover the new and exciting plans on the horizon. Maybe an update on the Tropical Americas land? Maybe some news about the Disney Adventure cruise ship? We’ll have to wait and see!

This closure makes me feel sad. 😢 Spaceship Earth is a favorite of ours. Very disappointed. Good news though is Test Track will be finally running again. 😃 Thanks DFB for update.
