Not all Mickey-shaped snacks at Disney are created equal.

Disneyland Entrance and Train Station
Disneyland has seen a TON of changes and new eats lately. We’ve been multitasking lately by celebrating Disneyland’s 70th anniversary celebration AND trying out a few of the newest menu items. Now, it’s time to see if you should make this new snack a priority or skip it during your next Disney trip.
Walking around Disneyland all day can work up an appetite, so we decided to take a stroll down New Orleans Square to see what we could scrounge up!

Our search for something savory during our visit led us to Royal Street Verandah, where we spotted a new snack we just had to get our hands on!

We decided to pick up the Buffalo Chicken Beignet Slider for $11.49! It’s made of fried chicken dipped in buffalo sauce and creamy slaw on a Mickey-shaped beignet.

Buffalo Chicken Beignet Slider
And while it might be cute to look at, that’s really where it stopped for us in appeal. Once we really got to dig into this slider, we quickly realized that a unique concept doesn’t always translate well in practice. The beignets are like Tiana’s standard beignets with no fluff, but the crust has the consistency of a bun. Our best guess is that Disney may have had to adjust the recipe slightly to accommodate the heavy sauce and creaminess of the slaw to keeping the entire slider together.

It’s cute at least!
As for how it tastes, well…the chicken was way overdone (maybe double-fried), and the buffalo sauce was probably the tastiest part. The sauce is your traditional spicy buffalo sauce with a bit of a kick! The slaw on the slider was almost flavorless, which was a bit disappointing as we found it to lean into the too creamy and saucy realm. It’s not all bad, though. The beignets had a nice sweetness to them, which on their own would have been great, but they’re quickly overpowered by the stronger taste of the buffalo sauce. From the looks of things around us, these sandwiches weren’t exactly flying off the shelf, either.

We’re all for trying unique Disney foods, but this one was a bit of a miss for us this time around.

We just went last weekend I had 3 of them. Be prepared for it to be messy but I loved them.
