Grab that suitcase and fill it with Mickey ears because we’re going to Orlando!
A new ticket sale dropped for flights to Orlando, and if you’re thinking about coming to Disney World before the end of the year, you might want to take advantage of this deal.
Southwest is offering a Wanna Get Away Sale for one-way flights as low as $39! The sale is available for dates between June 3rd and November 19th, and you must book before May 22nd.
What would we do if we were adding an extra Disney trip in before the end of November? We would definitely book tickets for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, which will run on select dates from August 15th to October 31st.
There’s no way we would miss a chance to try all the food booths at EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival, running from August 28th to November 22nd.
We would plan a visit to all the parks to jump in Cool Kid Summer, which runs from May 27th to September 1st. Everyone in the family will love the themed dance parties, new character opportunities, and crafts.
If we went to Hollywood Studios, we would watch two new shows, Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After and “The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure.”
And overall, we would enjoy the Florida sunshine and knowing that we saved a huge amount of money and got to go to Disney World. Don’t forget to book before May 22nd to take advantage of this deal.

You said to tell you what we’re interested in… We’ll be going as older Disney Adults in November. Planned as a family trip with the kids and their significant others, but the economy, work, and a work-related accident for one of the kids conspired to see them all cancel. We’re looking at another trip in the fall of 2026, with sufficient time for everyone to get their planning done. And one of the kids is driving that planning, meaning everyone will buy in.
So, we’ve got a bit over a week to ourselves.
We’re planning to snag some DVC rental points and do a night or 2 at Animal Kingdom Lodge with the Savannah View, 4-5 days at Shades of Green, then end up at the Swan.
We’ll catch the end of Food and Wine, and see the beginnings of the holiday festivities. Probably do a couple of the backstage tours we’ve not done before, and with 6 day Park-Hoppers, we can take a day or two out for resort days or Disney Springs. This won’t be a trip where we try Epic Universe… Maybe next year with the kids.
Since we’re at Shades, we won’t be using the Disney Dining Plan, but that tends to work out OK for us, as we can snack and drink our way around the parks pretty well.
We do plan, for perhaps the first time ever, to see some of the new shows. We’ve been coming to WDW for years but in the best Military Does Disney traditions, it’s certainly not a vacation, it’s a military operation complete with prior planning (and, AJ, you only THINK you preplan a Disney trip) and time synchronization. There’s also an end-of-day replanning session because no Disney Plan survives first encounter with the parks.
Rope Drop Most or all mornings. At least 2 mornings starting at Animal Kingdom to get Flight of Passage and Kilimanjaro Safaris in multiple times. One last pass at Dinosaur. Relax at Nomad Lounge, and scream on Everest. And a mandatory pass (or two) through Navi River.
Magic Kingdom… Fireworks, probably with a dessert viewing. In all the trips when the kids were young, we often missed the fireworks to either get them into bed since they were cranky (young) or hit the rides when everyone else was watching fireworks (older). Our last trip was my first time to see the fireworks from Main Street! As for rides, as much as we can get. We haven’t done Tron yet, so that’s a must-do. Buzz, if it’s not in renovation. Small World and Peter Pan. And the railroad, which was down for at least the last two trips.
EPCOT is, well, EPCOT. If I can find record of my SCUBA certification, I’ll spend some time in the tank. Living with the Land and Soarin’, Behind the Seeds. and Figment, with Ratatouille and Frozen as we can get into ’em. Crepes for breakfast at least once. and 3-4 passes around the World Showcase: It is Food & Wine, after all!
Hollywood Studios will be Star Wars and Tower of Terror, as I suspect Rockin Roller Coaster will be in the Muppets reno stage. Here’s another place where we’ll do more shows, since we didn’t do them with the kids.
We’ll do at least one evening on the Skyway going to a couple of resorts for drinks and desserts. Hoping we can get into California Grill. And we’re definitely looking for dinner at Ohana.
