runDisney events always bring a certain kind of magic to the parks. From people showing off their medals and posting pictures of their achievements, runDisney welcomes a new crowd of guests to the parks.
While we love the fun energy, the race courses going right through the parks can also cause park closures and traffic!
EPCOT will open at 10:00 AM on February 23rd due to the Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend. Early entry for resort guests will be from 9:30 to 10:00 AM.
Tomorrow might be a great day to have a late start to your park day and take some time to enjoy your resort amenities. Take a dip in the pool or enjoy a longer table service breakfast before grabbing your park bag and running to rope drop.
If you’re planning on park hopping, it might be a good idea to start at another park, like Magic Kingdom or Hollywood Studios, and then take the monorail or Skyliner over when you’re ready to start your journey around the World Showcase.
The Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend is a three-day event during which athletes can choose from a 5k, 10k, and half marathon, all themed to their favorite princess! These events start early in the morning and allow runners to race throughout the parks, creating unique memories and photo opportunities.
Because of these special events, Disney parks are usually more crowded than usual. Be prepared to wait longer for your favorite attraction and character meet-and-greets. If you are planning on getting to the parks at a certain time, you’ll want to be ready for extra traffic, so leave early before your lunch reservation!
Good luck to all the athletes running this week! Follow the Disney Food Blog to stay up to date with all current Disney news!
