We knew the day was coming, but it it almost time for more construction in the parks.

At D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, we got a ton of news about new offerings coming to all four parks. Magic Kingdom will be getting two newΒ Cars-themed attractions, and they will go in the current place of Tom Sawyer Island and the Rivers of America. Villains Land is also finally becoming a reality and will be built just βBeyond Big Thunder Mountain.β Animal Kingdom will get four new attractions, three in Pueblo Esperanza (the Tropical Americas-themed land), and Zootopia: Better Zoogether! will be a brand new show in the Tree of Life. EPCOT has ongoing construction at Test Track as the ride will open in its third version next year. Now, it is finally time for Hollywood Studios to start work next week. It was announced that the park would be home to a Monsters Inc.-themed land, but there was another announcement that came shortly after D23 wrapped up.
While it was not announced at D23, Hollywood Studios will get a brand new Disney Villains stage show! This new show will be hosted in the current building for Lightning McQueenβs Racing Academy.

When the new Disney Villains Show was revealed, it was announced that Lightning McQueenβs Racing Academy would permanently close on October 7th. This date seemed so far away but it is NEXT WEEK!

But donβt worry, it wonβt be too long before we see Lightning and all his friends as they will be relocated to Frontierland in Magic Kingdom when the new Cars expansion opens. While there is no opening date for the expansion and no closing date for Tom Sawyer Island and the Rivers of America, construction permits have already started to be filed.
