We’re still about a year away from the grand opening of Universal Orlando’s Epic Universe.
However, Universal has been releasing details about its new park, including more information about the park’s five themed lands. We recently learned a lot more about Isle of Berk — How To Train Your Dragon, as well Super Nintendo World, and Celestial Park. However, something has already changed in Epic Universe, way ahead of its opening — one of its roller coasters recently got a new name.
One of the first lands we learned about at Epic Universe was Celestial Park, which will be the central hub that leads to portals into the other lands. It will also be the first land you’ll see when entering the park. Universal described the land as an “imaginative world” where visitors will “embark on a journey of discovery, thrills, and excitement as they wander through lush living gardens nestled along shimmering waters surrounded by stunning architecture inspired by astronomical and mythological elements.”
Celestial Park will have two rides: Constellation Carousel and Starfall Racers, a dual-launch racing coaster that will reach speeds of up to 62 miles per hour with a 5,000-foot track that reaches up to 133 feet high. The dual coasters will even race along an inverted crisscross in a “dazzling display of blazing colors and ethereal music.” Well, now that roller coaster has a new name — Stardust Racers.
Why the name change? According to Cinema Blend, a lawsuit was filed in Colorado by the Starfall Education Foundation over the trademark of the name “Starfall.” In the lawsuit, the organization claimed that Universal was using its own trademark to attract kids. The Starfall Education Foundation uses online resources to teach children how to read and write.
Although the lawsuit was in its earliest stages, it seems that Universal Orlando decided to resolve the issue quickly by changing the name of the coaster from Starfall Racers to Stardust Racers. Thematically, the new name still works with the roller coaster’s concept.
Another cool fact about Stardust Racers is that the roller coaster’s track features no track lighting, so its illuminated vehicles will seem to “appear as comets shooting across the night sky above Celestial Park.” The coaster’s minimum height requirement is 48″.
Although there is no official opening date yet for Epic Universe, two of the three hotels being built around Universal’s third theme park do have opening dates. Universal Stella Nova Resort will open on January 21st, 2025, while Universal Terra Luna Resort will open on February 25th, 2025.
The third hotel, which will be INSIDE Epic Universe is Universal Helios Grand Hotel. Universal has not yet revealed an opening date for this hotel.
Stay tuned to DFB for more.
