Disney announced the temporary closing of Country Bear Jamboree in Magic Kingdom late last year to make room for a new, updated version of the show.

The original Country Bear Jamboree gave its final performance on January 26th, 2024. The new version of Country Bear Jamboree, the Country Bear Musical Jamboree, is set to debut in Summer 2024. We don’t know exactly what the refreshed show will look like yet, other than that the bears will sing classic Disney songs in new styles like country, rockabilly, and bluegrass. But Disney recently gave us a peek at some new costumes coming to the show, and now we’re pretty much obsessed with the idea of “shapewear for bears.”

Disney gave us a behind-the-scenes look at the new costumes for Bunny, Bubbles, and Beulah! These three ladies will be pretty in pink in the new show, which is a huge step up from their previous blue costumes.

Not only did Disney let us see the new costumes, but the lead designer, Sara Landesberg, shared some insight on exactly how you design costumes for and dress an animatronic bear. Apparently, it’s not as easy as it might seem. These bears might not be alive, but they still need all the attention of their costumers.

Since the bears are animatronics, they don’t move like a live bear or human would. Zippers, buttons, and seams are installed in lots of random places on their costumes to accommodate their bodies and mobility. Another thing that’s added to the bears is a body protector to keep the animatronics from destroying their costume or themselves. The body proctor is a large, spandex body suit, or as Sara called it “shapewear for bears.” It keeps everything in and together before putting their clothes on. (If you know, you know. 😅)

We get needing to keep everything tucked in and in place, so don’t worry about it, Bunny, Bubbles, and Beulah, we’ve been there! Next time we need to wear our own shapewear, it’s very likely we’ll be calling it “shapewear for bears.” This is one phrase we’re on board with and mildly obsessed with — sorry, not sorry if you catch us using it from now on!
